Colonization Order: Moon , then Mars, or direct to Mars

I wonder who when the first pieces of Mars real estate will go up for auction?

Even if we could actually set up a sustainable colony on Mars, The problems would arise for generation born on that planet. The lower gravity and affects on their physiology . They could never go Earth. And there are other problems beyond even that .:(

This talk of space travel is all very interesting. I suppose as SFF enthusiasts we are obliged to get excited about it (although I've always thought of it as a basis for literature - a plot device - rather than something we have a realistic chance of achieving). But while we are distracted by charlatans offering flying cars and Mars cities in our lifetimes, we sometimes lose sight of real advances that are occurring elsewhere. In the biological sciences for example. An end to serious disease? Even a halting of the ageing process? Not as far away as most folks might think!

Does that mean we'd all end up like Superman (apart from maybe the x-ray vision)?

There are definitely far greater problems. It is unlikely that they would ever cultivate and grow coffee on Mars!
