Could you please recommend some good modern sci-fi authors ?
Call me weird, but I'm looking for sci-fi books without sex.

I'm currently reading Asimov's Foundation series, and I absolutely loved the original three books,
from the 50's. Foundation's Edge was pretty OK, but Foundation and Earth is horrible.

I read a summary of the book, so I know how things went, and now I'm reading Prelude to Foundation.
I think I will read Forward the Foundation too, but after that I'd like to read good sci-fi from a young
(relatively young) author.

When I say good sci-fi I mean space travel, robots, amazing technology of all kinds, and basically
good fantasy stories - and NO sex.

Imo sci-fi and sex don't mix. I don't mean to offend or judge anyone, but sci-fi containing sex just isn't my cup of tea.

-Cheers-

Hi Pops,

If you haven't read any Iain M. Banks, i would push you in the direction of his Culture books. They are sublime.

I really like Adrian Tchaikovsky and Dogs of War is my favourite. Shards of Earth was a fabulous space opera that i think you'd enjoy.

If you don't mind a little bit of sex, I think that Neal Asher's Polity books are really enjoyable and he writes some of the best space battles ever.

I adore Dan Abnett's Gaunts Ghosts books. They are more military science fiction, but Dan creates some really good characters and it's quite a jolt when he kills one of them off. Some of the battles make my heart race. He is excellent and please don't let the Warhammer 40, 000 tie put you off.

Thank you very much - I'll take notes. :giggle:(y)

Arthur C Clarke
Clifford Simak
Cordwainer Smith
Jack Vance

All terrific sf writers. No sex to be found. Not the most modern perhaps. Certainly contemporary with Asimov.

If you've managed to read this far, here's a series of 17 books with no sex, (or at least none that I remember) but there is some dating involved.

The Ell Donsaii series by Laurence Dahners. The first book is entitled Quicker. These books are short, (app 250 pgs.) engaging, well written, with good plots. When I am depressed because of the darkness in SF I turn to Laurence Dahners and especially to this series. Quicker was published in 2011.

Sorry can we all look at the OP - modern sff authors. I love you all but Heinlein, Herbert, Wells, Clarke? They’re golden age of sff….

Yup. I'm very grateful for all suggestions but I'm mainly looking for young and good writers.

Space, space travel, robots, aliens... as long as it is sf and good stories I'm interested. :giggle:
