Hi all ! Can you help me out here ?

Thanks Jo!

Can I just say that Ascension by Nick Binge is awesome - I got an advanced copy of it that 3 of us have read and all three thought was brilliant (and all of us are intending to buy it when it comes out, it’s that good)
Just got it now off Amazon...£8.99

Another vote here for both Adrian Tchaikovsky and Gareth L Powell. I've not read everything they've written, so there might be some sex somewhere in a book, but it's not a theme.

Also, A Psalm for the Wild-Built, by Becky Chambers, which is essentially a travelogue through a much-changed future landscape. @Parson, you might want to check this one out. It's lovely, and serene, and a definite palate cleanser. Published in 2021. Some of her other series have sexual content, so be aware of that, but this doesn't that I can remember.

Teresa writes fantasy. The OP asked for modern SF, and has had dozens of suggestions of old SF and non-SF. It’s not that hard to stick to the question is it?
May I suggest you read the original post again, carefully this time.
I would have thought that "and basically good fantasy stories" meant "and basically good fantasy stories".
