The cost of pursuing creativity

There is definitely a lot of stress that accompanies the creative fields, particularly if you are pursuing them for any sort of income (even just hobby level income). I have to deal with it in three different fields (jewellery, digital illustration, and writing). It's partly that 'doing well' isn't just reliant on our creating or even someone else liking it. It's everything you have to do to get it seen in the first place that I find to be the most stressful.

I guess what I was really trying to say is that if the artistic process itself involves suffering, it grinds to a halt. If it doesn't, I can continue creating when other things are making me suffer.
The words of a true self-expressionist! :)
I only say this because I have personally known a few myself. OK, more than a few and both who internalize or externalize the for mentioned sufferings.

I agree. For me, the mixing of the roles of artist and publicist is a lot of the problem.

I would have to say that the cost of pursuing creativity for me is having to confront myself and the going through/into my repressive dyslexia. It stops mw in my tracks as far as writing and music goes.
In writing, I tend to have very dry MC's because I can't let the MC be the MC. If I can't feel or express it, neither can my MC.
So, yep. The cost of my creativity is me!
