August / September 100 Word Anonymous Challenge 2024 Discussion

Wow! That went fast. Into September already. Only 4 days to go. Contest closes on Saturday at 11:59 GMT.

The Challenge is now closed.
The Poll is open here for the next 5 days.
Remember that you have TWO votes.

I just wanted to say thankyou so much for everyone who contributed to this Challenge. There are 37 entries that all have their unique perspective, and it's fun to see the different ways that people have approached the theme.

Thankyou as always to Elvet for running the Chsllenge, and good luck to everyone in voting to come

Great crop of stories, enjoyed them all but have limited publishing my half thoughts to six so as not to make a mess of the guessing:

Don't Tangle with an English Teacher or Yes, Dick Turpin
Sometimes it’s just not worth the trouble -made me laugh (vote)

Imperial Improvements
PM up to his old tricks methinks,

The Victim
Liked the twist, great story (vote)

Never Turn Your Back on a Venusian
Old school outer space shenanigans.

Countess Epidermis and the Highwayman of Tulaigh Mhor
Nobody goes home empty handed.

Polished Flaws
Batman is out of a job.

*may not be true

I really liked the vast majority of the stories this month. Here is a longish shortlist:

Brave New Universe.

Time to let go.

"Someone is coming." Zombie arm story.

The existential robbery of Coffedrink Fancysuit's Universe

A dissertation on an Artificially Intelligent Highwaybot.

The Ballad of John Plamer.

My votes:

I voted for the following stories. Both went with very similar themes and both made me laugh.

A dissertation on an Artificially lntelligent Highwaybot

Identity Theft

I think I would have preferred not to have voted or shortlisted this month as it seemed trite not including so many more stories in my shortlist.

Take It, It's All Yours and The Thief Knows got my votes, although several others could have.

Narrowed it down to 5:
Identity Theft --- vote
Don't Tangle with an English Teacher or Yes, Dick Turpin --- vote
Dis-organised Crime
Pride and Extreme Prejudice
[untitled 2] Post #25 poem

Oh dear; just realised (by spotting someone else's name twice) that I have TWO votes this time! Can I 'un-vote' and then try again? That appears to be the only way to gain access to my second vote.

Voted for:
Identity Theft.
Persistence is Futile.

Really liked:
Don't Tangle with an English Teacher or Yes, Dick Turpin Very funny!
Imperial Improvements
Never Turn Your Back on a Venusian
