I see image B - seeds is in the lead. Which is a bother because this image does absolutely nothing for me, inspiration-wise. I can't make head or tails of it either, but I suppose I can't blame the image for that.
It's C or D for me. C or D, D or C...

Well, there's still the better part of a week to go, so who knows?!

And anyone who shrank from voting initially, even if you've given an order of preference, do please vote for the one you put first/liked best, so that we do have as many votes as possible!

I think in future it may be better just to label them as A-D?

But in all honesty, unless it was labelled, I wouldn't see it as a seed myself. Maybe cobwebby material, or a chrysalis.

There are lots of things B could be other than a seed. Same with A , which looks more like a kind of drill than a tripod.

It's not the label's fault. (though in this case it might lead to a seedy story) It's the image that is meaningful to someone or not.

While it's probably not going to be my choice (when I get around to making it), I'm not entirely surprised that some have been sufficiently... er... blown away by the Seeds image to the extant that they have voted for it.

*gets coat*

In a Challenge where we are asked to be inspired by the picture, I don't think titles are necessary.

And if anyone is puzzled/confused as to what the picture represents - well, that's up to them to decide for themselves.

There are many things that Image could inspire - and most of them aren't plant-based.

I mean...

I'm tempted not to vote simply because I like 'em all, and let's be honest here, the rules for the 300 challenge are so flexible in terms of interpretation, you could write the story for the image you want irrespective of the one that wins the poll. Are people still wedded to the idea that there has to be a clear link between a story and the image? It's there as a personal stimulus (Ooo-er, Matron, careful, Ursa... resist the urge! :D ) for the author, not as a stricture.

A) reminds me of the Tripods tv series, or brutalist architecture, or even the Atomium
B) reminds me of something Lovecraftian, fractal, or DNA double helix
C) reminds me of my lovely blue hat for church and weddings
D) reminds me of a screen cap from Star Wars Battlefront's Yavin IV base.

I do love to wear a lovely hat and fascinator, though...

No, the strict disciplinarians who guard the sanctity of the writing contests use their vote to punish any story that their imaginations can't immediately connect to the theme or image.

At this point I'm probably going to write a story about how Stanley the Seed went on holiday with his seedy friends. That will drive the nail home!

Are you planning to drill down into this seediness?

Or perhaps, will his seedy friends abandon Stanley, who'd be left to plough/plow on all by himself (give or take his furrowed brow)?

Oh, and a reminder that the polling for December's 75-worder closes in less than 24 hours (i.e. at 23:59 GMT).
