The Hound

Agreed. The only issue is that others still can't see her worth, after she's removed the armor. That's why she pledged herself to Caitlin, and I think that's why she's vowed to find the Stark girls. If she's not somehow proving herself, the way the rest of the world views her begins to creep in.

It's a pity she couldn't have spent some time with Mage and Dacey Mormont.

 Loras Tyrel - homosexual???? Where did you read it? May be it was lost in translation in my book. Why?

And, with Renly, confirmed by Martin - and it's pretty obvious from the books (at least in English).:)

I just finished reading the end of ACOK. (third time) The part where Sandor cries when he hears Sansa sing. Makes me so sad for the hound. I think that he's a good guy underneath it all. I just want to give him a hug.

No such thing as 'good' and 'bad' in Martin's world - there's a bit of both in everyone. And I think the Hound's inner ******* outweighs his inner goodness...

The Hound is a hard core S.O.B. straight out of some old spaghetti western.
Ive just re-read the scene where he tracks Dondarrion to the sept, stumbles in and demands his gold back while surrounded by armed members of the brotherhood. Man I love that character. Particularly when he suggests that Dondarrion knight his horse. heheheheh :)

I agree but I feel that a lot of his bad side is due to his past and having to serve under the basdard Joffery. Maybe as the character develops and is away from these influences his true side will emerge, whether good or bad, I am sure it will be entertaining.:)

Throught the first read of the series I really did not take to the Hound. But with each reread I liked hime even more. He has turned into one of my favorite characters. He goes against the typical arch type. I think that he battles with the image of being a "knight" and that of his brother. He goes out and saves Sansa, i think that his action were not just saving the future wife of the King. He has feelings for Sansa. As he saod to Arya, Sansa gave him a song and he should have taken it. He said that he should have saved her (the knight in him) then he says the he'd rape/ kill her (i think) (thats Gregor's influence).

As far as his scares I believe that Gregor mained Sandor. As Jon said, fire is life and death in the north. Well to the hound fire is death and hell. I do hope that the Hound and the Mountain will meet once and for all, with the hound being the victor. Also as a twist, I think that Sandor and Sansa will in the end marry or something on that path. Sansa is filled stories of knights and what not. Sansa falls in love with Loras as the "perfect knight" in the realm, yet the perfect knight was under her noise all this time, the hound.

Great lines from Sandar Clegane?

"Knight's honor" the Hound said, unsmiling. p652 ASoS

ASOS American hardcover p 384
"Knights?" Clegane made the word a sneer. "Dondarrions a knight but the rest of you are the sorriest lot of outlaws and broken men I've ever seen. I **** better men than you."
