I have read all of her books except the latter two, are you a tamora fan? I am very new to this forum but I am a giant fantasy fan, most people haven't read the same books as i have but i am comforted that you share in my liking

Hello Star Song, Welcome to the Chronicles. Always glad to see another Young Adult Fiction Fan. I haven't read Tamora Pierce as of yet, although I do own 5 of her books. I have several close friends who love her work, especially the latter books. Can you tell us a few things about the series?

the song of the lioness quartet is by far the best out of all her books that i have read thus far, however, virtually all of her tortall world books are fantastic. the circle of magic books are well done but not as entrancing as the tortall books and i would only suggest the circle opens quartet to someone interested in criminology and or solving of murders considering they were mostly murder type mysteries disguised as fantasy.

i am a big fan of her works and i think anyone would like them, it is difficult for me to believe that the lioness quartet was written in the early 80's! remember that when you get around to reading them.

tamora pierce is a great writer for those looking for mostly strong female heroines in writing.

I have read her Immortals, Circle Opens, and Circle of Magic books! She was the second fantasy author I read the works of, after Anne McCaffrey, she created some awesome worlds. The Immortal books were awesome, I think you would like them Alia. Somewhat short but good.

I've read all of her books and I'm working on owning all of them. I can't wait till the next few are out. I don't have a favorite series, I just read what I crave... It's kinda like food that way. LOL. I've also read them all several times.

I was so happy when we had to do a paper on our favorite author in 10th grade because it helped me get a better look at Pierce and it helped me look where I wouldnt have looked before for information on her. Okay so I was happier after I had finished it then when we first got the assignment. I mean who really wants to write a paper?

I only read Songs of The Lioness, but i really enjoyed the series, although i thought it was to short!! I didnt want it to end, the series had some really great characters.

Tamora Pierce is an author whose first books were very short but after the Harry Potter books came out she was allowed to add more to her books. Now her books have much more detail and story depth to them, not saying that the first ones didn't. But now she is able to add more not afraid to cut her story short like she did with her first Y A stories.

Oh, wow!​

I just read the Will of the Empress. It is definately for an older audience. Probably older even than the audience for the Daughter books.

The book is pretty much the story of what happens when Sandry's cousin, the Empress of a neighboring country, tries to control Sandry and the other three mages. Through out almost the entire book, the four have kept their mind-to-mind connections closed.

It's not the best Tamora book, but it's new, which means you should definately read it because there's bound to be more in the series. If you want spoilers, PM me.

I have read the Song of the Lioness series, it was the 1st fantasy series I read back when I was 9, and I loved it. I spent months just reading and rereading the 1st book until I could get my hands on the rest. The first time I started reading Lioness Rampant, I peeked ahead and felt devestated at who Alanna ended up with. Still annoys me today. I read the 1st book in the immortals series and it was ok but I couln't find the rest until 2 yrs later & I didn't like them much. I haven't read anymore, maybe I'm too old now, I find when you read or watch something you loved as a kid, sometimes it's not as great as you thought originally. Because of this I don't think I'll read the Song of the Lioness series again, I wouldn't want to spoil how I remember it. But I have had an idea, to lend my copies to my 12 and 10 yr old cousins, they're at that age where they could do with a strong heroine role model, I sure found Alanna inspiring.

but don't you realise that Alanna would never be a good queen? Jon's better off with Thayet. I cried at the end of LR, when Alanna and George finally realise how much they love each other, and george says "So I finally tamed myself a lioness." I though that was so beautiful *sad expression*

Hi, I'm a new member, just thought I'd dive straight in!

I'm a huge Tamora Pierce fan and have been for about 7 years (In fact, I found this place rather indirectly through a Tammy fan site!) I've read all her books and am anxiously awaiting the publication of 'Terrier' *drools*.

I'd also recommend that you start with the frst book of the Song of the Lioness Quartet, 'Alanna: the First Adventure' as it's the first in her Tortall series. You could also start with 'The Magic in the Weaving' though, as it's the first in her Emelan series.

How could you hate the George and Alanna pairing! I mean, come on. They love each other heaps, and Alanna bore him three children, Thom, and the twins Alan and Alianne.

Though when she originally wrote the book as one novel, Alanna married Jon and became Queen.
