I read somewhere that the idea for WOTW came when he read accounts of tribesmen, mainly armed with spears, taking on the modern British Army.
What if we were the tribesmen and the Martians were us?

I love the book and every version tbh, although the 50s movie, despite some wooden acting, is seared indelibly into my brain after seeing it as a child and having nightmares. so many iconic scenes and in its own way a very artful design.
isnt about time we have a hollywood movie that mashes up all of Wells Sf books into one super story. the Time Machine and the Invisible Man against WOTW and the Selenites.
