When tavern scenes are done well, they are endlessly interesting and exciting. I've read so many stories that have had those highly entertaining scenes, I decided to include more than one in my own series. I have at least one in each of the first three books.
Toward the end of book #2, I have what I hope will be seen as an extremely powerful pub scene. It takes place across three different chapters. Although it's drawn out to build tension and motivation, I believe it maintains the correct amount excitement and necessary pacing. It ends with a deeply emotional climax, one in which there is deadly violence that ends the lives of more than one character, including one that I suspect will be a startling result of that action.
At least, I hope so.
