i love all of Raymonds books relating to midkemia/kelewan...but have to say i was disappointed when the empire ended at three books  .... with the books relating to midkemia / krondor..they seem to be endless..not that im complaining....love them to much:D
am i the only one who would have liked to see the empire continued?

There are currently 21 (22 if you include the revised two parter of Magician) books relating to the Kingdom of the Isles...

And only about 5 or so deal in depth Kelewan...

But I think that one series was enough to spend on the the Tsurani Empire... Otherwise it would have gone stale... Better to leave the fans wanting more... ;)

Also, the ending of "Mistress of the Empire" was a kind of 'happy ever after' ending so I doubt he'll feel the need to go back there.
He seems to like Midkemia a lot more it seems :)

If you like Asian-style fantasy books like Kelewan there's other stuff around.
Lian Hearn's "Across the Nightingale Floor" is the only one I can think of at the moment though - anyone else remember any?

I can 2nd this recommendation, it's a good series, only 3 books, though I believe more may be written in the future :D

There is one issue that might cause Mr Feist to not have the Kelewan issue raised again... The fact of some people I have spoken to seeing the Midkemia/Kelewan conflict as being similar to the Japanese treatment of European/American soldiers during the second world war... Especially with the use of prisoners of war in swamps...

Just a thought...

thanks for the recomendation will have to look into it......:D

never thought of anybody taking anything that was written down in these books as even slightly relating to real life....yikes...*wonders wether she may be slightly insensative*....i spose it could be taken the wrong way....*ponders on it for a while*

Some people find the oddest things that might be connected... In the UK there is a part of Channel 4 called "T4", and I'm reliably informed it has something to do with the Nazi Death Camps...

T4 is to do with the Nazi sterilisation campaign.

I have never read any of the Empire books, I think I will make it my next port of call. How do they rank with his other books?

I think maybe he could do more books in Kelewan, but I don't think the Empire series itself should continue, or it'll becomes stale like the Midkemia ones. Its probably best to leave it as it is, so we can still think of the Empire series as a masterpiece, without having lots of other inferior books plaguing the same setting. IMO, the Empire series is by far his best series.

i think that there is so much from kelwen like the original crossing of the golden bridge....i would have like to hear more about that i found the details rather sketchy at best.....or the original assembly....life as a priest...and i could go on and on about things id like to know more but im not sure there's enough room:D

and i dont want to bore people.*laughs*

I just love reading Feist's books. However, I seem to be alone in this one, I did not enjoy The Empire at all. :( :)

Feist has already said there'll be no more Empire books - both him and Janny Wurts found it took too much time to colloborate and he's got no interest in continuing them himself. A shame really; although the trilogy is plenty big enough on it's own :)

i read the 3 books but they never really did it for me compared to the midkemia settings. If they did go back i would rather he shy away from the politics.

Still a good read though. Nothing to complain about.

I think the Empire trilogy is one of his best works too. I can imagine it took a lot of time though, but (having spent my time reading and not writing :p) I really think it was worth it.

Are you including the Empire trilogy and/or Magician? What are the other books?

How can u be dissapointed about the Empire-series...
It was, well, different, but NOT bad, not bad at all!

But I do think it should not be continued. I mean, it just has a beautiful ending, which closes all open plot-lines. It's just perfect the way it is, expanding the series would decrease the quality of the story IMO

I would like to know what happens with Justin when he is older, and how the empire has changed, and how people take it in the long run. Also I would like to learn more about Kelewen's history, over then what we know.
E.g.
-Goldern Bride and the enemy
-Moving a sun
-Forced treaty with cho-ja
-Forbidden
-Forbidden
-Rift War
-Mara the servent/mistress of the empire
