The most dangerous villain?

Nice idea, but you'd have to believe that Robert would realise if the corpse was someone else rather than Rhaegar. And magic has only started coming back into the world with the return of the Others/Dragons, so I doubt he could have been raised from the dead.
Personally, I'm going for the obvious "Coldhands is Ben Stark" theory until I can find a convincing enough reason why not.

And as for Quaithe & Euron, no-one's mentioned them because so far they're hardly mentioned! :D
Euron has the potential to be a supreme badass, but Quaithe is merely the representative of Asshai, more of an envoy than a true threat at the moment, I'd say.

I agree, it is a nice idea and I won't discount the possibility of it being true. Although, Rhaegar's chest was completely stove in- that would be hard to repair.

I'm not so sure Coldhands is Ben Stark- wouldn't Sam have recognized a stark resemblance? For that matter, wouldn't Bran have recognized him?

Also- Euron will show up soon. He's definitely a badass.

Well, I seem to recall that Beric had a similar wound...

This is true. Beric had a wound that was more reminiscent of that which killed Mycah, the butcher's boy, but that fact that he could be brought back to life is something that I will definitely keep in mind.

Boy, this theory has got my head spinning... can't wait to tell my roommate :)

Just to be my own Devil's advocate....

Rhaegar's prophetic vision could well have simply been seeing a child of his become the "prince that was promised" (PtwP) and has the "song of fire and ice" and then believed he should learn the ways of the warrior to teach his son. He could have believed Aegon would be the PtwP. This is what Dany saw in the House of the Undying or less.
Which then points back to Jon potentially being the PtwP if he is in fact Rhaegar's son.
Those pesky prophecies!

My favorite so far in this list is Sam as the ultimate baddy. It must be correct, because NOBODY would ever guess it. I can just see him murdering Jon in his sleep... (in all that I've read here, I've never seen anybody consider that Jon might die!)

Actually, if you want to think about the most dangerous of all--we've got two prime candidates right under our Winterfell nose. I would NOT want to be around when Ary and Rickon come back. They're gonna be REAL MEAN. Wolves grown up in the wild, full of unfettered anger. (look at how Shaggydog and Nymeria foreshadow...) But not really villains. Just avenging angels.

OK, Trey, I would like to add something else in support of your theory. What if Rhaegar found something in his scrolls of prophecy and he hired a Faceless man to impersonate him in the battle? I'm assuming they can mimic any face. He would have had access to enough funds as a prince to hire one. Maybe he dressed him up in his armor and sent him off to the Trident to die for him.

My question is: where is Rhaegar now if he is still alive? What purpose does he serve? Unless he's the one who is motivating Magister Illyrio and Varys...

Which means that Melissandre (sp?) has the wrong Azhor Ahai (sp?)! But does she know she has the wrong one or not? If she does not know that Stannis is false, she's in for a big surprise. If she does know that Stannis is false, then she must be working for the Other.

What if Rhaegar went to Braavos and learned the tricks of the Faceless Men and became... Jalabhar Xho (sp?). He could live under Robert's nose and direct Varys and Illyrio without the Baratheon's being the wiser... but of course I'd ask, why has he waited so long? For Dany to grow up so he could marry her!

That's all incredibly far fetched, but since Coldhands and Jaqen H'ghar are the only obvious mystery men we are left to guess at the non-obvious. Euron, Ned Dayne, Bolton's *******, Daario Naharis, Ben Plumm, Qaithe, and Illyrio are among the possibilities for villainy or greatness that are hidden in plain sight.

Has anyone discussed the possibilities of Naharis or Plumm being Rhaegar? Dany is attracted to Daario (sounds like Targaryen siblings) and Plumm has hinted at Targaryen ancestry.

Dany has a third betrayal to go? For love right?

And didn't Azhor Ahai forge his sword in the blood of his beloved?

My guess is Danny will be the quenched and Jon the quencher. That would make Jon the bad guy...

"You must not balk, no matter what..."
