Three questions (spoilers)

If Brienne shouts "Jaime!", it's because Jaime and his five hundred men are coming around the bend. If this is true, say goodbye to unCat.

I totally forgot that Jaime was nearby... Hmmmmmm. But wouldn't the outlaws post lookouts??

I'm thinking "Arya" may have been what she shouted. But then, UnCat would already know that Arya was alive, right? After all, Arya did spend time with those very outlaws.

Yeah, but that was some time ago and Arya was in the saltpans just before it was invaded. And now she has mystically disappeared again, but in the other hand, would the outlaws harm Arya. Yes probably, and they would remember harming her. Or were they actually searching Arya for UnCat in that invasion? Heh my thoughts are just flowing onwards.

I wonder what everyone else thinks about Arya's loss of sight?
I admit to being quite surprised when she was asked to give that up - Neither the old man or Jaqen were blind, so why is this a normal part of the training?

Will her vision come back? Most of me hopes so, although the tragic nature of Arya going through life without sight and relying on her other (probably superior) abilities has an appeal too.
I really wish GRRM had killed Gregor off, but I guess that would have been to easy a death (although one richly deserved!)
And as for Brienne, I think she will have survived although I would be surprised as Lem seemed very keen on killing her and would have taken some talking too to release the rope!! :)

I'm positive it's only a temporary thing, part of the training, to teach her to rely on her other senses. But remember Symon Star-eyes? That hero Bran spoke about once? The blind guy who fought with a double-bladed spear? Would be kinda cool if Arya remained blind, but could still "see".

Well, perhaps her blindness will allow her to really focus on the lessons that Syrio Forel gave her about using her other senses more when fighting.

I can't recall, did Syrio die? It seems like last we know he was fighting so Arya could escape. I wonder if she will meet back up with him? I know it probably is a long shot, but just a thought.

For a while I thought Syrio was J'aqen. It does seem a wee bit trite though. I think Syrio is dead.

This might seem a bit far-fetched, but what about Howland Reed as J'aqen? The mystery knight in Meera's story made many travels to strange lands (which she glosses over to tell Bran about the tourney), and spent time among the peoples he met during his travels. Maybe he learned a few things from them. Also, Jojen has the green sight: he could possibly forsee many of the Stark family's problems and therefore be able to get his father in a position to covertly assist Arya while he and Meera took care of Bran and Rickon.

Yossarian: and, um, Ned didn't manage to recognise his old friend? Which might be understandable, because he's apparently totally changed his appearance and voice. So Howland must be a Faceless Man as well as a warg and a greenseer. Talented guy. :p

No, this is a crackpot theory.

Why can't Syrio just be Syrio? ;)

Just so. :)

Sorry, but my mind often tilts toward crackpot theories and general absurdity. My desire to see the Reeds become the saviors of Westeros was stronger than my desire to not write something idiotic. I apologize for wasting anyone's time with my irrational ideas.

I think that Syrio died a horrible, horrible death. Horrible. Just so very painful. After the lip he gave Ser Mandon (or was it Ser Meryn?) when they came to slap him in irons, I don't see the ignoble Kingsguardsman showing mercy. It was a brave death, though. Syrio is just Syrio.

/me continues crazed raving....

DE, that gave me good laugh as I get ready for bed. So am I the faceless man or did the faceless man kill me?

I don't know! That's what's so scary! :( Have you only recently, with the appearance of yoss, infiltrated the forum, or have you been playing your own despicable game for months?!?! I have no idea!!!

I believe that Brienne's last word is "Doh!"

Seriously I would pass out if she screamed "Mother."

js

Maybe she screamed "winter" or "mother". Something to perhaps break unCat from the red spell???? Winter from the Stark saying and mother for one of the seven that she prayed to the most

What if Brienne yelled "Stannis". Remember that Brienne swore three times to kill Stannis, before pledging herself to Catelyn's service... maybe this would remind unCat of their conversation and give her pause. Remember Cat said, "When the time comes, I will not hold you back" about killing Stannis. Well if Brienne is hanged, that is pretty much holding her back...definitively...

*Asktoembla casts: Word of Power; Greater Thread Resurrection!*

Well, we've been discussing this same thing in a couple other threads closer to the top.

Welcome, Asktoembla. Don't mind weirwood, he just found out he's due for a pruning...

There is nothing wrong in resurrection of old threads... especially if the topic revolves around Catelyn!

But I think the discussion of Brienne's last word is currently under a more active thread entitled Brienne's last word nomination. You can also find a more comprehensive discussion at Brienna's "Last" word (sic).

Feel free to post regarding "Stannis" here, but I feel you'll get more feedback on one of the other threads. Good Luck!
