Darren Shan

I think he's overrated. THe Saga of Darren Shan was all right, not the best thing I've ever read, but not too bad either. It made me have high hopes for Lord Loss, especially since it was about werewolves. But his style of wroting in the present tense was just annoying, and I had to struggle to finish it. Since then, I have lost interest in darren Shan, and I disbelieve it when it says on his books that he is 'master of horror'

I think that part of the charm of Darren Shan is that he's writing as i child in more like a diary sort of way. Not in tuesday went to school got bit by vampire came home but as a teenager who is telling the story and from that point their quite believeable.

My son loved them and has just finished book 6 i think of the demonata.

I love Darren Shan.
I've read the first 3 of the demonata and read Cirque du freak today it blew me way. Will be buying the rest this weekend!

It's his style of writing in particular I enjoy and the concepts, he doesn't stick to the stereotypical, he goes beyond it and uses his own ideas and always gives the reader something new. He's certainly very good :)

My son is 13 and he thinks Darren Shan is way better than JK Rowling. the books are shorter and easier to get into. Hes read all the Vampire series and up to book 6 (i Think) Blood Beast in the Demonata series. Even i enjoy them the are quite good.

just finished the latest one in the demonata - Deaths Shadow.
I really like Darren Shan, i think he is an amazing authour! Really cant get enough of his books. The only down side though is if you read his book as soon as it comes out you have to wait 6 months for the next one and for me i forget what has happened!

The Saga of Darren Shan books are, I dont think, as good as the Demonata sereis but they are still really good! Well worth the read - I find each book is like a chapter, I don't know if anyone else feels like this?

Am one of those who is having way more fun with Darren Shan than I ever did with Harry Potter. With Shan's books I want to read them because I want to read them and not because I want to complete reading a set of books.

Yes, the writing is 'young' at times but then again the books are not targeted at adults anyway. His characters are a wonderful bunch and he knows how to tell a story.

And yes, the gap between the books is a downer. I'm an adult and I get impatient. I'd imagine it would be worse for young people.

i loved the darren shan books!
saw the movie the other week, twice.
though it was changed so much, i still liked it anyways
i thought especially the cannibal pirate was genius XD

but i havent read the other books like demonatay ones, started reading them, didnt finish :/
