Hi All,
I am new to this forum, but I have a burning question. In A Feast for Crows, it mentions 3 times about Cersei's expanding waist... including the maid shrinking her clothes, and her not being able to fit into other old clothes.

Has this been brought up before? And can anyone remember how long about Cersei and her brother were "intimate???"

What does anyone else think?

Very interesting theory! :) The last time Cersei and Jaime were intimate was the day after Joffrey's death or soon after, when they did it in the sept. I thought it could be she was just getting fatter but this idea is much more intriguing.

HOLY S**T!

I never thought of that! Good one, man!

It might also bear fruit as far as her own mini-prophecy goes - a new queen, younger and more beautiful will destroy her!!! Cersei's child to become her eventual downfall, when they realise that it bears a rather striking resemblance to Lancel Lannister/Osmund Kettleblack?

I think it's a good idea too (I'll have to scurry off & re-read the relevant passages now!), but offhand, considering the timings, I think it's more likely to be a Kettleblack, than Jamie's 4th child. Either way, she's in trouble if she is - she tried to have Margery tried for Treason on the same offense.
I'm not sure what would be worse really, another blond Jamie-child (therefore drawing unwelcome comparisons to her earlier children) or a coal-black haired child - making Stannis & Ned's plan to unmask her come true!

How about a naming contest?
My contributions are;
Blond haired = Jamie Jr
Black haired = Robert? :)

No, I think this was just a little bit of a tactic used by GRRM to further illustrate Cersei's downfall. She was always considered one of the lustiest and wanted women in Westeros and men lined up for her. But now she's starting to let herself go. I don't think she's pregnant as she has not exobited any other symptoms like fatigue or morning sickness, which would come before she started showing. and she certainly has not lsot her appetite or been neasous. That would be a good twist though eh! Wonder if she would keep it or get of it like she did whenever Robert got her pregnant.

dyffeg, Congratulations on an intriguing first post. I need to go back and reread with a possible pregnancy in mind... but the idea is intriguing. I remember Tyrion warning Lancel not to knock her up.

Interestingly, the Kettleblacks (we know she's slept with Osmund and Osfryd, but we don't know about Osney) are covered with dark brown hair. If Cersei has a child that look obviously non-Lannister, I would not give a fig for Tommen's and Myrcella's lives.

Of the people who've shared Cersei's bed, I think it's safe to say that Taena Merryweather is not the father.

Just to go slightly off topic, not every woman suffers from the symptoms of pregnancy, I for one escaped morning sickness and fatigue and I started showing at 6 weeks. I also know a lot of other mum's who were the same so it is very very possible that Cersei is preggers and I for one would love that twist to the story!

Thanks everyone for your posts on my thoughts... I feel fairly pleased that no one discounted the idea! However, as to what really happens, I guess we'll all have to wait!! (damn!). Regardless of who's child it is, it (if true) will certainly set the cat among the pidgeons.

As to my "guess" - and this is based on nothing concrete - I reckon her pregnancy will be found out, and she'll be ripped apart bit by bloody bit by the townspeople ...sortof an echo to Lollys - who was impregnated during the riot!?

Fine, every pregnancy is different but I would rule it out as I don't think it fits. If she was pregnant, I think she would of started to notice something different about her body (either fatigue, appetite, hormones, missing periods...). She is a woman after all and they generally notice these things. I don't think there are many women who wake up one morning and find out they are 4-5 months pregnant. Anyways, like I said it's just some artistic license GRRM is using to show us that Cersei is getting older, not who she used to be and is becoming less and less desirable to match her screw ups as Queen Regent. But that's just my opinion and I'm just a man so it doesn't really count.

I wasn't disputing your opinion that she isn't pregnant, I was just merely stating that just because she isn't showing symptoms of pregnancy, doesn't mean she can't be pregnant!

By the way, to argue another point, my mum only found out she was pregnant when she was 5 months gone and again, I know women that haven't realised something was amiss until 3/4 months into the pregnancy, it happens, everyone's different and suffers/experiences pregnancy differently.

I do think Cersei being preggers an unlikely scenario and actually agree with your theory that GRRM is just trying to portray her decline but it would be an interesting twist if she was...

If Cersei is pregnant (I don't believe she is) and is allowed to carry the baby to term, I hope she gives birth to a dwarf.

Hey how come I'm not the Father?......:( Cersei's a babe.....

Good original thought but what else does one expect from an Aussie....:D

HI all,
re the comments that most women experience changes when they are pregnant - true. But a lot don't - my mother didn't know she was having one of my sisters until she was 5 months gone, and I have even known of a nurse who didn't know until she was 8 1/2 monts pregnant. Honestly, I only thought it happened in magazines.

Anyways, time will tell - and we probably not until after Dragons :-(

I wanna know why in the first book cercei said about the king before he died:

"he almost got me pregnant once,...had to find me woman to cleanse me"

What one earth and how the hell?

Weird i know but its been bothering me since square one.
thanks.
bye.

It seems that there are a number of specialists in herbalism in the Seven Kingdoms. The maesters know these secrets preventing pregnancies and aborting pregnancies. There are also a number of women who have this secret knowledge... I suspect it is an unmentioned and dark aspect, yet fully integral part of, the Westerosi culture.

The whole storyline involving the Tullys has to deal with this. As a teenager, Lyssa Tully, was impregnated by Petyr Baelish. Hoster Tully had a maester or an herb woman give Lyssa an herbal concoction that aborted her pregnancy.

Also the current crisis of Margaery's virginity deals with the preventative measures that she's supposedly taken to not get pregnant.

Yossa... you are one sick puppy...I love it. I cna see Cersei throwing herself of the top of some tower and some servant girl holding this hideous child with two different colored eyes!

ABout the moon tea stuff. That is the only thing that make me think she is not pregnant. All women just go drink moon tea and...abracadabra.... no baby. Unless Cersei didn't want anyone to know she was skanking around or unless she did drink moon tea but someone gave her Lipton's... I do not know but it would be interesting.

The person I could not wait to see a reaction from is Jamie!!!!!!!!!! He may stand and watch as they tear her limb from limb!!!!!!!!

Great OP, and I thought Cersei had just eaten too many lemon cakes:) !
