So, any English manga fans here?

I like a whole selection so I'm sure we'd find something to talk about!

I always get confused about this - Anime is films & Manga is books, right?
But I've also seen Manga symbols in Anime films

Long answer, but the short one is, I've watched anime's but not many manga comics.

Yup - though I don't get to watch as much as I would like to.
I prefer the feature film animes though, as it's difficult & expensive to build up collections of anime series.

Yeah, that's right :)

I don't quite understand. But I know that popular mangas tend to be adapted into animes.

Same here. My manga experience is limited to:
Akira
Ruroni Kenshin
Ranma 1/2
Nausicäa of the Valley of the Wind
Astro Boy

I also read only few manga comics :

Akira by Katsuhiro ôtomo : One of the best comics ever I've read with a page-setting serving the rhythm of the story.

Apple seed by Masamune Shirow : a Very good cyberpunk story with attaching characters, good action and complex plots.

Rôjin-Z by Katsuhiro Ôtomo : Interresting story but it misses ambition IMHO. To reserve to the fans. Essential.

DoMu: A Child's Dream by Katsuhiro Ôtomo : An interresting little story which shows premises of Akira design and character types and their links.

Video Girl Aï by Masakazu Katsura : Interresting stories, a good series with only one defect : plots too repetitives.

Battle Angel Alita by Yukito Kishiro : Another good cyberpunk manga comics with the great idea that you can change your body like clothes, but at the end tiresome (I'm not sure I read all its volumes).

Nausicäa by Hayao Myazaki : On top in my favorit list. A wonderful story about human nature and its conflict with the Natural world. Every one who loved Ghibli animes should love Nausicäa.

And since two weeks, I began Monster by Naoki Urasawa.Interresting comics though it's not a scifi story -- or it seems not after five books.

I've read Ghost In The Shell. It was pretty good, although the philosophy seemed sort of wedged-in. I suppose it might not have reading it in serial format, with an issue left over to the whole mind-meld thing.

I don't like Manga. But then I only saw an episode of Dragonball and I wrote an article about Yu-Gi-Oh cards for a children's site about a year ago. I'm not even sure if that qualifies as manga...

Anyway, I don't feel an urge to get into it either.

I should add MegaTokyo, which is an American web manga (is it still manga even if it's non-Japanese/Korean? I think so). I started reading this a couple of days ago. At first, there's lots of gaming/anime humour, but the story develops into something truly great through 2002-03.

I don't read as much manga as I'd like to. But I am a mega anime fan if that counts.
Really, the only manga I've read is:
A few chapters of "Fullmetal Alchemist", and (when I was younger) a few of those "Poke'mon" comics they had out.

I'm a fan of manga and anime. Saiyuki, Trigun, Wolf's Rain, Fullmetal Alchemist, Tarot Cafe, and Bleach are some of the manga series that I've read part or all of. Not that I own them all, thanks to friends and a good library.

I enjoy watching animé, and have the greatest respect for any film from Studio Ghibli (Spirited Away, Nausicaa, The Cat Returns etc). They each are a dessert for the eyes! So beautiful. I usually turn to animé when I'm in a particularly 'girly' mood; and as a result have a collection of Sailor Moon, Azu Manga Daioh, Pretear, Kare Kano and Pita Ten. Other than those, I absolutely adore the .hack series- I get all the dvds, manga and games I can get my hands on in this title! The concept is huge, and so really feels like you can enter another world. I also tried to watch Ghost In The Shell a few times, but I never could get into it. :x

I always find it difficult getting a hold of manga.. unless it's been specifically recommended to me (which is rare - I don't know many people who are into it), I would have to go and buy a new title myself. This can usually end in a bad situation; with me accidently picking up something of the hentai kind in a shop! x.x

I'm a huge of lone wolf and cub, blade of the immortal, ghost in a shel, akira, and domu. I'm actually the creator of a new manga book. It's called Samurai Elf. I have the first 23 pages of the novel free for download and I will start serialzing the 184 page book in weeks to come.
Thanks
Miguel

I am a huge anime fan.

Yes Anime is animeted manga where as manga is the comic version. Ive seen soo many animes i can hardlly count and ive read alot of manga as well. Ive also participated in a few anime conventions that happen yearly around here.

I love anything by Hayao and Studio Ghibli there are only two of his films I havent seen being The Cat Returns and Porco Rosso.

Speaking of Beserk I thought it was a disturbing anime (I watched it not read it) but for some reason found my self drawn to it (I cosplayed as Caska from it for a convention).

I love Full Metal Alchemist although the anime totally deviates from the manga version (which is still continuing). The movie is super sad as well.
Id have to say its one of my faves very high on the list.

Im also into old school Sailor Moon.

As far as manga Id have to say for shojo faves: marmalade boy, inuyasha, mars and hana yori dango (boys over flowers), revolutionary girl utena <not in any particular order. for shogun faves: beserk, trigun, vampire hunter d, hellsing
anime: anything by hayao, desert punk, big fruits basket fan, gravitation, old school record of lodoss war and of course Sailor Moon, Akira

if there are any other hard core fans send me a message there is little anime/manga that i havent at least heard of :)

I like anime, seen Spirited Away, Howl's Moving Castle. Trying to get Princess Mononoke but so far haven't seen it cheap enough!
I liked the Matrix anime too. :)

Spirited Away,Howls Moving Castle (close second), Nausicaa, Princess Mononoke thats my ghibli rating so far however all of them are very close in the running. anyways the point of this was to tell you to see nausicaa as well as princess mononoke. id say those listed are the top for myizaki

I actually only recently got into manga, but I LOVE FullMetal Alcemist and Furuba (Fruits Basket) A couple others have been recommended to me, but I haven't had a chance to go out and get them...

I like both anime and manga, although I read more new stuff than I watch these days. My current favourites include Trigun, Cowboy Bebop, Rurouni Kenshin, and RG Veda, but I'm always on the lookout for something new.
