Jon, The Wall and the realm

TK, in response to your question about fathers and sons... I wonder about Martin and his father. Legacies, family methods of problem solving, hereditary character traits, honor, and affection are themes that are repeated. I find it all very interesting.

On the subject of the title of the thread... I reread the first Samwell chapter in AFFC last night. The following lines caught my attention.

"Lord Snow," Maester Aemon called, "I left a book for you in my chambers. The Jade Compendium. It was written by the Volantene adventurer Colloquo Votar, who traveled to the east and visited all the lands of the Jade Sea. There is a passage you may find of interest. I've told Clydas to mark it for you." ..."Knowledge is a weapon, Jon. Arm yourself well before you ride forth to battle."

Aemon does not (in my opinion) think he'll return to the Wall. This is his last advice to the Lord Commander. Aemon knows about the Others, the Wildlings, the Seven Kingdoms, House Stark, House Targaryen, House Baratheon, dragonglass, the legend of Azor Ahai, and many other things... but what is this last bit of information that he passes on to Jon? What did Colloquo Votar see in the Jade Sea that will help the Night's Watch?

Dragons? Or the means to control them? Is old Valaria in the Jade Sea? Is Victarion going there with Dany and then going to the Wall?

Just musing but a very good catch Boaz.

What I want to know is will Jaime end up with Brienne, or am I way behind, and is that pitying laughter I hear? Or am i going interestingly deaf as well as clinically blind? hmm.

For Jaime to end up with Brienne, he'd have to be clinically deaf and blind.

I don't know either but the Jade Sea is past Valyria and is actually closer to Asshai (sp) and is on the other side of the Dorathki sea, on the other end of the continent of the 9 free cities and where Dany is.

So either this passage talks about something he saw whilst there but if it is, it's a long hike to go fetch it!!

Dany is not going to get with anyone!!! Your all forgetting what Littlefinger said about the prophecy of the 7 kings and 3 Queens. Dany is going to be the second or 3rd queen!!!! She aint gunna let some Fat little craven slip his salamander in her dragon breeder.

Who's the fat little craven? Certainly not Euron. She make take a fancy to Victorion or Jon or Tommen or Stannis or Tyrion or Jorah or the heir to Dorne, etc.

I don't see Jon getting together with Dany. It's too hopeless-romantic for George R.R. Martins liking.

Dany to get together with the new improved thin-badass Sam the Slayer anyone, after Sam defeats Victarion in single combat?

I ment Sam. =p

Hang on, did someone on the last page say that Jon is a Tagaryen *******?

****SPOILERS**** (well potentially! :D )

Well, it's a popular theory that Jon is the ******* of Rhaegar & Lyanna and that's what "Promise me, Ned!" was all about. :)

Please, watch your language, it offends my delicate aesthetic sensibilities. To what prophecy are you referring? I don't remember anything about seven kings and three queens.

5 Kings and 3 Queens sorry...

Littlefinger ~ "What little peace the order of the 5 kings left us will not long survive the three queens, I fear."

"Three queens?" She did not understand.

Nor did Petyr choose to explain.

page 624

Well the five kings refers to the war I suppose.
Robb Stark, Joffrey, Stannis, Renly & Greyjoy.

The three queens is more guesswork but I'm thinking this refers to; Dany, Cersei and Margery.

Yeah you could be right. I was thinking the line of kings that sat the Iron Throne, and now (Starting with Cersei) a line of Queens would.

Dany, yes. Cersei, probably. Margaery, probably. But don't count out Asha, Myrcella, Arianne, or even Jeyne.

I've just read through several of the threads and haven't yet come across anyone that shares my thinking about Bran and his coma promise of being a flying wolf. So I decided to join this forum.
I am waiting for him to meet Dany, as one of the three heads of the dragon. I didn't really think about Jon and Dany ...

What theory's that then?
That he'll sprout wings and have some problems around full moon? :)

Welcome to the forums, Eareniel.

OK, maybe theory was the wrong word, but ever since the dragons hatched, I have thought that Bran will end up on a one.

Also, blood betrayal does not have to mean that, for example, Jon and Dany are related, and he betrays her, it could be a blood betrayal as in Jon and Bran are blood, and she is betrayed that way.

i really like the theory of Jon being a bastardson of Lyanna and Rhaegar.
It would fit perfectly with all the bits of information we know about the tower of Joy and Eddard secrecy towards Jon parentage. I mean he found Lyanna in the tower splattered with blood, she was defended by 3 knights of the kingsguard by order of rhaegar i believe, so if she was being defended by them then it would mean that she did not receive any wounds by torture or so on, but died giving life to her son. in many ways this would fit the prophecies very well, especially since the boook is called a song of ice and fire, now it refers to the two rival gods probably, but i can not help but notice that if this theory is true, he is a child descended from the North, Starks, (ICE) and on targaryen side of FIRE. His direwolf itself is a combination of white and red.
