ADWD's POVs

I like the idea of either a Jorah or a Quentyn P.O.V. As for a Sandor P.O.V., I just don't think it has any promise.

Oh you're no fun...

Anyways, I've been off the forum for a week and will be off for a few more days as my wife gave birth to our daughter on Tuesday (June 13th). Just very happy to share the news with anybody.:)

Congratulations to you and your wife TK-421!!

Enjoy the time with your new daughter!

xx

Thanks for all the congrats.

Now, let's hope I don't have the kind of relationship some of the characters in ASoFaI have with their fathers...

upon skimming this thread .. i only caught one reference to whom i'd like to see as the new POV.

Benjen Stark .. First Ranger of the Nights Watch.

What ever did happen to that guy...?

The prevailing theory is that Benjen is now Coldhands.

Coldhands..... hmmm... i don't recall any such named character... (though i must confess i'm horrible w/ names) which book would this be from?

"Coldhands" is a nickname applied to a mysterious person by Bran - because, of course, he had cold hands. He made a brief appearence towards the end of ASOS, most likely the last Bran chapter.

Actually, it was applied by Sam and Gilly, who encountered him first.

** spoiler **

oh yeah.. that's right .. the guy that leads them through the wall .. right ?

and we think that in benjen.. i guess that would make sense ..

dang that GRRM and his alternate persona's

There is now a popular theory that Coldhands = Bloodraven, which would be a very interesting development, as it would tie the main series of novels closer together with the prequel novellas.

Jorah Mormont is a likely candidate for the New POV, although Quentyn Martell does seem to be slightly more favoured by the evidence. It cannot be the Blackfish or Sandor Clegane as ADWD will be set in the North, in the Free Cities and in Slaver's Bay, not in the South where both characters are located. Sandor's brief appearance in AFFC would seem to indicate that he's being held 'off-stage' for the moment until he is needed.

what about belwas or barristan selmy or maybe khal moro or one of the other khal's.

From the AFFC appendix, it seems highly likely that some of the other khals may appear in ADWD, which would likely make them part of a Dany POV and therefore they wouldn't need one of their own.

Belwas and Barristan are located with Dany, so anything they have to add to the story will be done with a Dany POV. There is also one other POV character heading to meet Dany, so we have enough POVs in that area.

Quentyn is favoured simply by the evidence that has been accumulated, namely the disparity between the Dorne POVs that were going to appear in the pre-split AFFC and the ones that appeared in the post-split book. We're one short, so it is logical that they'll appear in ADWD and as Quentyn is the only Dornish character of any importance outside Dorne and heading east, that makes him the favourite candidate.

Jorah Mormont would be my second guess.

I'm not 100%, but I think Barristan is also covered by the "They know too much" warning that prevents Littlefinger, Howland Reed and Varys from becoming POVs as well.

What about a Melissandre POV. Unlikely but would be interesting.

On the issue of future encounters with other khals, this could be Tyrion as he is on his way to see Dany with Illyrio.

No, Tyrion's going with someone else. Ilyrio just gives him a lift part of the way. Ilyrio's place should be in Pentos getting ready to help out Dany from his position of power (probably hiring ships to help transport her army across the Narrow Sea).
