Fantasycon 2006 - UK

Hey, nice to see you on board, Jen. :)

Really enjoyed it myself - my big aim was to have a few words with Neil Gaiman which I managed which was nice, and had some good discussions with Raymond E Fiest - will probably have to read some of his later wrok now. :)

Overall, these cons seem to be getting better. :)

Also, nice to see ScalemX there (and sorry if I didn't always seem very sociable - always running around trying to say hello to different people!).

Anyone else from chronicles go?

I was there, i saw you counting people in the free bar queue but was too involved with speaking with some other book sellers, was a really good day on Sat my first Fan con and i really enjoyed it.
Mr Fiest is a very very interesting man!

That was the best F/Con I have been to in a few years,I like R.Fiest but for me N.Gaimen was the best, good Indian resturants and pubs on the doorstep if you wanted to pop outside for a bit of air.

I will quite happy to go back to Nottingham next year just hope that half as many new people come back and enjoy it again.:D

yeah it was great. Totally worth the problems I'm now in because I missed university days and need to fill in stuff others have had the info on:p .

Some things made me wonder though: what about Chronicles T-shirts. They would come in very handy for a con.;)

bah how daft am I forgot this was on and I live in notts doh, + my m8 came up from london and got a book signed by feist when he was in waterstones oh well

I missed this one due to, er, unforseen fiscal problems.

I, er... transferred too much money out of my account and forgot I needed cash for this ;)

Next year, Gadget, next year!

I totaly missed the boat on this one and could have went too as I was off work.

Also cool name Parmenion, let's hope you do not suffer a similar fate to your namesake. :)

Hey, WS, I might not be able to make FantasyCon, but I am coming to Newcastle later in the year (beginning of December) - fancy meeting up for a beer? Who's round was it anyway?
Just let me know nearer the date Mark, I will buy you boys a few rounds of brown dog.

Sounds good to me. I guess we'll have to get a little Chronicles corner in one of the local drinking holes ... after the compulsory curry, of course! Rod Glenn, Winters Sorrow, you and I could put the world to rights. :D

There are no locals anymore in Newcastle. The place is a haven for easy women and liver related illness. :(

Ah, your pessimism always manages to cheer me up Lace. Not saying you're wrong though. I'm sure there's an unspoilt bar or two left however :)

Everytime i go there for a meal or a drink the bar or resturant appears to have reinvented itself under some homo appealing name. Not that I have issue with the homo. I used to drink in the Frog and Firkin, I thinks it was called, but it has had several name changes since and appears to attract a different sort of alcoholic. The more i think about it the more I thinks it was called something other than The Frog and Firkin. I thinks that was a bar on Newgate/Haymarket Street. The bar I am referring to was just off the Quayside and had a big balcony area in which you could drink.

I forgets how hammered I was virtually every waking moment back in those dark days. :)

That one was the Pitcher & Piano. Suitable for posers only,

The Crown Posada - now there's a pub! :)

(boy has this thread gone way off topic. Ah what the hell - Fantasycon 06 is finished anyway) :D

Oh gosh that was great! (Not that I'm biased!) But despite being a headless chicken all weekend, thought it went rather well... Far too knackered to come up with anything too coherent to say about it... :)

All feedback (both positive and negative) will be most welcome... and thanks to everyone that could make it - you made the event!!

Hi Jen, congratulations on a great con. Really enjoyed myself. :) Was also nice to meet you (however briefly). My sympathies to all who were unable to make it... Roll on Fantasycon 2007! :D
