Spoiler!!!!!! If you have not read A feast for crows!!!!!..............................................................

Maybe I misssed something, if not I have a theroy.

Cersie says "The gods make japes of all our hopes and plans. I have a champion no man can defeat, but I am forbidden to make use of him. I am the queen, Qyburn. My honor can only be defended by a Sworn Brother of the Kingsgaurd."

Now maybe I missed something. Forgive me if GRRM said who this guy was. I was thinking if no one was talked about who could it be that Qyburn has stashed away that he toyed with. Could it be the Mountain that Rides still lives? and they sent someone elses head to Dorne? Wouldn't that be a twist....

Yes, this seems very likely.

I'd love to know where they got an "over-sized" human head from though.
I'm got this image of the Gold Cloaks wandering through Flea Bottom going "What about him, he's got a big 'ead"

"Naw, you've got a bigger head than him! Hmmm...." :D

I guess I had thought more along the lines of this champion being some "undead" creation of Qyburn. So maybe the mountain's body is just a base for this guy and all the people Cersei has given him are also contributors to him. I guess we'll see.

I had not considered this, though it seems like a possibility. In fact I can not think of another choice.

Hmm, seems to me that Cersei really has quite the predicament here. Since Arys is dead, Selmy was dismissed, Jaime is on this whole anti-Cersei bit, The Hound is gone, Mandon Moore is dead, seems to me she has little in terms of choices other then Meryn Trant.

What happened to Preston Greenfield?

was he not the one who was torn from his horse by the mob, in the riot in which lloly's was raped and the high septon killed?

And Meryn Trant was killed by the Imp during Stannis' aborted siege of Kings Landing....that leaves Cersei with what....Boros Blount, The Kingslayer and whichever Kettleblack is on the Kingsguard.

However...the Kingsguard is appointed by the King and not the Knight Commander....so with the small council being run by Pycelle Qyburn and Cerseis fop of hand (I believe that to be true but I could be wrong) and Jaime away, its conceivable (at least by me) that FrankenGregor could be appointed to the Kingsguard with some small pretext...Tommen just loves doing that whole wax thing anyhow.

I love how Cersei ensnared Myrcella (sp?) and fell into her own crappy trap....life is good sometimes.

whose to say that anyone will be a champion for Cersie sooooooo many people are pissed at her including Jaime it may seem wiser just to leave her where she is. Which comes to a theory that I have. Doesnt this open a new conflict for GRRM? I almost sense that the undead creature that Qyborn has created and the Holy military orders (whose names I cant remember) Must butt heads. Qyborn may use such a creature to help her escape which makes more sense to me than having it as a part of the Kingsgaurd. It seems like {though I havnt figured it all out as of yet} that the kingdom is being set up for a civil war and Jaime is being set up to be hero to still this civil war.Jaime is lookin more and more like an anti-hero than a nemises.
Does anyone follow me on this or am I talking out of my Rumproast?

aegon, that was mandon moore who was killed by podrik during the battle of the blackwater. just a heads up :p

I think it's spelled Margaery.

The other large humans listed in ASOIAF are Hodor, Mord, Sandor, Robert, and Belwas. I'm sure there are other abnormally large men in the King's Landing area, though not quite the size of the Mountain. If the head sent to Dorne was counterfeit, I'm sure Cersei had found an abnormally large head (not quite as large as Gregor's) to send.

If Cersei did send Gregor's head to Dorne, then I have no idea what Qyburn has created. It will be interesting to see.

As to the theory that Tommen stamped a paper to admit Qyburn's creation to the Kingsguard, I don't think so. Qyburn is Master of Whispers, Orton Merryweather is the Hand. I don't think Merryweather would go along with any plan without the express consent of Cersei. And Qyburn would never have access to Tommen unless Cersei was present.

Oh, I just love the idea that Cersei potentially sent Robert's head to Dorne.

It's so wonderfully machiavellian!

I don't think he was as large as Gregor but it would certainly fit with Cersei's sense of humour :)

So my memory sucks.....anyhow

You really think Cersei wouldnt allow FrankenGregor onto the Kingsguard if she was destined to die...its not like she's not gonna be allowed visitors to speak with prior to the tirial.....a quick word to Merryweather, et voila.

There are really only two scenarios in my mind....Jaime returns to defend her "honor" or FrankenGregor is promoted to the Kingsguard and defends her when Jaime refuses and she gets desperate.

To paraphrase one of the other posters....you dont build a giant behemoth of an undead knight then leave him in the dungeon....and you dont have a one handed swordsman on the path to redemption training in the martial arts to approach what he once was and not have him fight something.

Sorry about the confusing Meryn Trant and Mandon Moore....I was thinking Mandy Moore and was wondering why she was on the boat bridge thing anyhow....that couldnt be...

Oh, I think Cersei would do it in a heartbeat, but it seems to me that Merryweather would not do this unless he had it from Cersei's own mouth (and this is now impossible). Also, it seems to me that this particular Hand and Council respond to power... and Cersei is no longer that power. I think Merryweather and company have deserted her to ensure that they do not join her in prison and death.

If Cersei were to make use of FrankenGregor, I doubt she would try to appoint him to the Kingsguard. A more likely scenario: Cersei says "F*** all these people!" and asks Qyburn to set the beast loose on all her enemies. At this point I think it is clear Cersei is not interested in the rules.

I thought Qyburn was booted off (and disappeared along with the sailor with his new warships-don't remember his name) the council the minute Cersei landed herself in trouble with the bible thumpers and that Pycelle was back on the council.

Sorry I missed when you were talking about this, but I had the same thought when I read AFFC. I thought it was kinda crazy so I never mentioned it. Arys Oakheart died in Dorne so I figured someone (or something – Qyburn
’s creation) would take his place to save Cersei. However I personally hope she finally comes to a horrible end, though GRRM will probably save her just to vex me.

Perhaps Qyburn is NOT building an evil undead juggernaut but is instead just perfecting his fruitcake recipe for the holidays. Just a theory.

Nobody really likes fruitcake anyways (unless it's been soak in rum or something)...
