Are all new stories endless?

My gut feel is that there are going to be 8 total books in the series when all is said and done. Why? I'm usually very skeptical about projected book totals, so I always take the author's current estimate and add 1.

Given that, I expect ADwD within a year, but books 6 and 7 may be more spread out since there is nothing written on them yet. I do, however, think he will churn out the final book with a fervor, since most of that ending-type stuff has been brewing in his head, and he will unleaash it to paper with lightning-quick glee.

Hey William (williamkooiker), I just visisted your website. Good luck with your book.
Thanks Wil. I appreciate the kind words. Tower of Ruin is due late '06 and I'm trying to remain patient. I just recently received the cover artwork (which is EXACTLY how I wanted it), and now I'm more anxious than ever. I'm going to try and get a pic of the cover up on my website in the next day or two.

I look forward to reading them William!!!! Will they be out in the UK???? You must give me some tips regarding literary agents/publishers, etc, though I do need to finish my book first ;)

Personally, I can' see the series ever ending!!!! I know they will, otherwise GRRM would be signing his own death certificate, but SO MUCH has to be explained, and so much still has to happen...plus I don't want them to end...really...oh Cersei...*sob*

I certainly wouldn't consider myself an expert in the area of agents/publishers, but I'm more than happy to help in any way I can.

As far as I know, the book should be available in the UK. But, if for some reason it isn't, then I could easily sell you one directly (possibly at a discount!).

BTW, for anyone that's interested, I just posted a pic of the book's cover art on my website. Now is about the time where I start getting nervous and thinking, "Is the book really any good?" I guess I'll find out soon enough . . .

it's a really impressive cover!!!! And I always do judge a book by its cover...;) Ahh I'm excited for you William!!!! :D

I can't recommend this set of books enough. Kearney's Monarchies of God is one of the most underrated series' in modern fantasy. Very few writers are comparable in regards to his prose and style. It's an absolute shame that those books are no longer in print.

He he. For now. Kearney has signed to a new publisher, Bantam, who are very keen on getting Monarchies back out there, preferably in two omnibus editions. However, Gollancz are being sneaky by keeping the last two books in print. Once they do sell the last of their stock, I think the rights then revert to Kearney and he can do a new deal with Bantam on them.

Also check out Kearney's ongoing series, The Sea-Beggars, consisting of The Mark of Ran and the newly-released The Earth That Abides. Great stuff, possibly even better than Monarchies.

That is excellent news! ACE didn't put much effort into marketing his work, nor did they seem all that interested in any new material. Hopefully, Bantam will be the perfect vessel for Kearney to gain more readers.

It should be pointed out that this is Bantam UK, who would sell the books in the UK and possibly Canada. I think he'd have to do a seperate deal for the USA.

A not so endless trilogy worth reading is from Fiona McIntosh - The Quickening.
Or the one from Jacqueline Carey - Kushiel's dart - Kushiels chosen - Kushiel's avatar.

Aye, i have the same prob  I blitz through books. i can happily devour 400-500 + pages in a morning/afternoon when i have the time. I don't really do bitesize reading, a chapter a day etc. My worst example is Robin Hobb's Fools Fate. it arrived Saturday morning and i started reading it. 11:45 Sunday, i finished it and finally went to sleep.

I Kept going "right, it's midnight, should probably go to sleep - oh o.k., just another few chapters...."

"O.K. now i'm being serious, it's gone 2 - i really should go to sleep".

"Oh for f*ck sake! It's 7 am! - i really should have gone to sleep".

"8:45!!! Ah, sod it. May as well finish now, haven't got to do anything tommorow/today...." :D

God bless 1,000 + page novels and Sundays! :D

I've been looking for something new to read and because you seemed to like this so much I started reading the Farseer trilogy so that I could read this Fool's Fate book, eventually. I was just wondering if you knew weather or not you have to read the Liveship Traders trilogy by Robin Hobb before you read the Tawny Man trilogy. Because it sounds like they don't really have anything in common except the world they take place in. But maybe latter on they intertwine somehow? Or are they 2 separate stories? I was just wondering if you or anyone knew?

They intertwine in the last 3 books, The Fool's books. It helps to read them in order. I did, but then I was buying them as they came out.

Do read the liveship books, not only because they're probably the best of the series (although i perfer the other 2, for fitz :)) but because what happens in them does have quite a large part to play in the final trilogy. I did'nt read them in order, and afterwards wished i had :D

I am not a fan of Hobb at all. She is good at character and plot, but she takes what would be a really good single 600-odd page novel and stretches it out over 2,000 pages for absolutely no logical reason. Having said that, Liveship was much, much better than Farseer, since unlike with Fitz, Liveship's central characters don't have you actively hoping that they will die for most of the book.

If you like Farseer you're going to want to read Liveship regardless.

It's Wiggum Approved.

Has anyone else read Lynn Flewelling? I read a series by her recently and found it to be quite good. I can't recall what the series was called, but it begins with "The Bone Doll's Twin."

I've read reviews of her other series and it sounds interesting, although it's been highly criticized for her blatant homosexual content, which apparently a lot of readers had trouble getting over.

Boohoo! They should A Song of Ice and Fire and see what they think about that, hmmm?

From their reviews, I gathered that it wasn't just a few vague references, though. Apparently there are two main characters: a boy and his mentor. The mentor is openly gay and lusts after the boy quite a bit, and eventually I guess they become lovers. Some people felt that it was too blatant and in-your-face. Of course, they may have been expecting the prince to fall in love with the elf princess and live happily ever after.

That's Luck in the Shadows, Stalking Darkness and Traitor's Moon. A very good story even if the lovers are the same sex. Hopefully, there will be more.

I don't think gender really matters, love is between two hearts/minds/souls(whatever you believe in) not between two bags of flesh. I tend to do agree with the Romans.
