What drew you to SG1 and what keeps you?

I agree Mark...
they should explore a little bit more with MS.. have a few epsiodes when he is centre stage...... Love his character

and don't forget sam and teal'c who weren't in the movie. the show would not be the same without them.
and this site is way cool especially the smilies:rolly2: :clown: :rolly2: :smiliea: :wink2:

Tatter

Very tue.. Tealc to me reminds me of Worf from Ds9... Very serious and a warrior... i love it when he gets sayings wrong... i.e. arrrhhh i cant think of one now... He He.... Anyone help me???

:rolly2: I agree with all of you. The series is definately better than the film. :p

By this time no Stargate film or series anything would feel right without the main actors (That is SG-1's 4 plus Davis and the-one-who-plays-Fraser, can't spell her name). The development fo characters appears to be there. I say 'appears' having only gathered this on reading threads. Sam and Teal'c are good considering they weren't in the film. The film was pretty weak I thought. It seemed unconclusive. (or is it in-, sorry) Though that's probably from seeing COTG long before I saw the film. The film wouldn't of really drawn me onto the series, but the series is far and above the film.

It's just a suggestion, but I think that if you see the series before the film, then the film would probably appear weak. But if you view the film in the light of COTG and the subsequent series, then it wasn't inconclusive........just appeared to not have got all the concepts tied in, which the series does try to do. At least it did in the beginning. But I feel very strongly now that it's actually lost the plot somewhere!

:iiworry:

Thats very true.... The film is a strong film but compared with the series.. its weak...

I aslo agree that Davis / fraser are very strong characters and without them the series would not be as good..

I saw the movie and was absolutely fascinated by the aspect of ancient Egypt and aliens, and I really, really wanted to go through the Stargate, what a rush that would be. When I saw it was being made into a series, I had to watch it, in fact SG-1 is the only reason I have Showtime, otherwise I wouldn't bother. I like RDA's Jack much better, not so serious and like MS's portrayal of Daniel best also, though I think James Spader was more of a Space Monkey. I also like the addition of Sam and Teal'c, it really adds to the team. I personally hope the movie incorporates the TV cast, including Rothery and Davis.

I haven't seen enough of the later series to entirly agree with that, but I see where you're coming from.

Well you know? I honestly don't think that MGM could get away with NOT using the TV cast in the film. Not without a hug outcry from the fans. Stargate has such a huge global following now and the individual character so many fans of their own they would really be risking failure and big financial losses if they didn't use that. They have a big moneymaker sitting right in front of them in the form of RDA,AT,MS,CJ and the rest of the cast.

Of course, that doesn't mean that a powerful company like MGM wouldn't think they could get away with a different cast or even a different plot direction. But whether it was the film which drew you or the series, the fact remains that the characters, as they stand in the series, are what most people, fans or not, will readily remember.:) :wink2:

Oops........... make that 'huge' outcry, not 'hug'.....

Before anyone says anything!

yeah I kinda think MGM would have to be pretty darn STUPID if they considered making the film without the guys from the series, considering its following. You only have to look at sites like this to appreciate the amount of fans the series does have, and for many reasons. But then I personally believe MGM can't see the wood for the trees...and they will do what they want to do and not give the fans a second thought......:disgust: :eek7:

Carkedit :dead:

Do you remember in the film when they went through the gate hey came out the other side covered in frost ... Why don they have that anymore... is it the more they go through the more they become use to it..

I was wondering about that too. Also after COTG the graphics for the trip through the gate are not nearly as cool as before.

mmmmmmmmm i had not thought of that either.... anyone any ideas ????
