What drew you to SG1 and what keeps you?

My dad watched it waaaaaaay b4 me and he was always going on about how cool it was. I was a huge fan of x-files at the time and so 1 day I thought 'Hey it's got Scully's dad in it, y not?' and eva since then I've been hooked! The first 2 eps I watched were 'Solitudes' and 'There But 4 The Grace Of God' - needless 2 say, I kinda got sum of the shippiest eps first so naturally I'm a huge fan of the whole Sam & Jack thing.

What hooked me

the movie Stargate did it for me.

Only other movie that had me so excited was Star Wars. And that was back in 1979.

The movie did it for me as well. I was a Stargate fan from day 1. I didn't start watching SG-1 until recently (3-4 years ago). My buddy said he watched it but I didn't even want to give it a chance. I finally started watching here and there...now I'm HOOKED!!! I still need to watch seasons 1 and 2. Anyone in Dallas with a great Stargate DVD collection???

Hi Eway. Not from Dallas but I do have a great SG1 DVD collection. Welcome to the Stargate forums. :D

To be quite honest what first attracted me to the show (and has kept me a fan) was the fanfic. A couple yars ago I stumbled across a SG story and totally fell in love with the characters.

I had watched part of season one when it first aired and had liked what id' seen but i was in the midst of a remote control battle and didn't often get to watch SG. So i stopped. then when i stumbled upon the fanfic (three years later) i became a full-fledge fan of the show (not to mention the movie).

I've always thought that the concept was rather cool. The show didn't involve spaceships or some technical far future plot, but instead had a situation that, for all we know, could very well be going on right now. i liked that. The characters were interesting, too. And i especially enjoyed the interaction between the characters.

But as much as i like the show, i like the fanfic better. The fics act like a huge magnifying glass for the whole stargate universe--enhancing the enjoyment.

Oh, and Anni, i totally agree with this. Especially in The Fifth man.

And I do think (as a former soldier) the System Lords should do something about the training of their Jaffa..... so far they all stink, no military tactics and no guts! I would have sent them all back to basic training!!

I came to watch SG-1 when I watched it when I was bored. I saw the battles and I thought "WOW, this is amazing" the next day I watched it again but this one had no battles but brilliant jokes ,I laughed at all of them. I continued to watch this show because it combines the things I like most, humour and fights! I'm also a fan of Star Wars.

I started to watch it because of RDA I like him in Macgyver,
but after watching it for so long I love the show for all
that in it. The acting, the action, and it makes me laught.
I like that in a show, and Stargate has everything I need
in a show!!!

Over the years I've stumbled across it a few times, but never really paid attention. You know how it goes, you look but you don't see.

However, one day I did sit down and watch an ep - think it was One False Step - and got a kick out of the dialogue and the way they spoke. That led me to look at each character and how they reacted to things, which then led me to the Stargate and the endless possibilities. And let's face it, these guys are not too hard on the eye now, are they? I mean, that's gotta be a bonus.

Oh, there are a few eps that I've thought were not well written (am I allowed to say this?) but hey, that's going to happen during a 22 ep series, isn't it.

I'm just saddened it's taken me so long to discover the series, but the re runs make me feel better on that point. This is one
chick looking forward to S6 in the Autumn.
