Sam Carter Opinions

***SPOILERS***















I`ve only seen Tangent and The Curse in .asf format and the quality sucks but has Sam changed her hairdo? I liked the rough and ready look but I think she`s gone for a more boyish cut. I`m holding onto the slim chance that I simply saw it wrong and she still has the hairdo.

hate to tell ya, but she got it cut beginning in beneath the surface. according to what i've read, she grew it out during the haitus and was going to try and leave it long to make sam look a little more feminine then the show's air force advisor told her it was getting too long for regulation..that and some people on the net were criticizing it so she got it cut real short.

then again, teal'c chin drool disappeared too so i guess it wasn't all bad

Now that you mention it, Sam and Teal'c hardly ever converse with each other. Maybe Sam is prejudice against Jaffa. Maybe she has a thing for people with snakes in their stimachs. Or maybe she just forgets he's there.

And that's a real shame. The actors work very well together. I can't remember the name of the epy (Foothold?) - where an alien race has taken over the SGC and are wearing devices that make them look like our people (O'Neill spends half of the epy suspended in the air). Teal'c and Carter are the only two not overtaken. The actors are, for lack of a better word, very genuine in working with one another - really good timing in their acting.

And she looked great, too. Sorry to see the Air Force guys were so staunch about the do.
 
Unfortunately the do and Jack seem to rank hand in hand.
Glad both got cut!
 
from what i hear one or more of the upcoming season 4 eps will be sam centric. a fact that i'm looking forward to.
i think i've read that sam gets to spout the technobabble cause early in the show the producers discovered she has a knack for it.
which could also play into them 'dumbing' down jack(read the chat transcript) it's a script thing, someone has to play dumb so the smart one can answer their question, explain it to them and therefore expalin it to the audience.
 
Absolutely! That is part of the fun thing about the chat last night. It was so short that I almost thought is was an episode. Except they talk more in the episode!

I also think, as you do that it keeps the other characters on the show guessing so the show can move along! I really think that Jack has his own area of expertize! But I also think as you do, skydiver, he is no dumbie!
 
I just hope they don't play him down to much, as someone said somewhere else he is too high ranking to be stupid :)

I liked the line in the chat, "well i am a litter smarter than Jack" hehe...

I think as far as actors/actresses go, Sam does the technobable pretty much the best from those I have come across, really good at it.
 
She really does. And as she once said to General Hammond, "have you ever heard Colonel O'Neill use words like mass corona? And he used them correctly for all practical purposes."

I think Jack's character just likes razzing Daniel and Sam about their technobabbel.
 
I also think this sort of dumbie approach is used because Jack is the show's everyman. So he has got to appeal and represent everyone. Not everyone can understand technobable, so Jack as 'our' representative is the one tagged to not understand it so it can be exposited!
 
you all remember the old story where a truck got stuck in a tunnel. all the experts were gathered around, trying to com eup with ways to raise the roof of the tunnel etc. basically looking for the most scientific solution, and then a young girl driving by with her mom said 'why don't they just let the air out of the tires?' which was the solution. sometimes the most scientifically correct solution isn't the best. like in bane when fraiser and sam are trying to keep junior alive they're getting all complicated and jack comes up with the 'why don't you just zap it like they do on er?'
sometimes you do need a fresh, simple look at things, and playing jack a little dumb does that.
and i also interpret it as, he's more than willing to let sam and danny ramble on without knowing exactly what they're doing cause he trusts them to do the right thing and not get them killed.
 
Now that I think about it, Lt. (?) Astor, in Divide and Conquer, had even longer hair. Of course, she killed herself (it must have been the hair driving her mad).

She looks great no matter what. She's beautiful. Personally, I like the shorter hair better. It brings out her delicate facial structure and those huge blue eyes.
 
Man it's been yonks since we've had a Sam opinion and about time too. Come on people, what do you think of our favourite gal?
 
i have heard EXCEEDINGLY VAGUE RUMORS that there MIGHT be an eps in season 5 which has sg-1 going to a matriarchial planet...one where the girls rule...does this sound like a good time or what? a chance for sam to tell the guys what to do...if it's true i'm gonna be waiting impatiently to see if sarcastic sam shows back up...
