Robert Jordan?

I've told a few friends to not start reading the Wheel of Time for it is a very big hole that you will not be able to escape.

I was a bit peeved when I found out that his latest is a prologue rather than the next part.
If he does the job well and it finishes with a bang rather than a whimper then he can finish in BOOK 20..:D

I do hope he opens up his world for other talented writers out there. I have certainly read a few fanfics that are worthy to be included in his world.

Hey, they have done it with the Honor Harrington series then they should have an anthology for the Wheel of Time.:D

I'm pretty sure that I was more than Peeved. I was more, jumping up and down and yelling like a crazy man in the book store. But that was just me.

Don't get me wrong though, I love the series.

The Wheel of Time is my fave series after A Song of Ice and Fire. I don't give a toss about the pacing and the characters don't piss me off, so I'm one of the few hundred thousand who aren't yet disillusioned.

The final two books are gonna rock.

I fervently hope so. Jordan has definite strengths, as I've remarked in another thread, and I'd like to see him put them to work in creating another world, another story.

I really hope so too, I question if two books is enough though. There's still so much going on that I worry that the end will be kind of a let down. And once again don't get me wrong, I love the whole series, I just get antzy whenever I have to wait for a sequel :p

the wheel of time is most definitely my favorite series. though i can't say with certainty what my second favorite is.

Also, two books. Im nodding my head along with Sci-fi gEEk, im not sure 2 books is enough to finish the series off. I know i wouldnt mind more than two books. Make 'em great RJ!

Well I've taken the plunge and bought The Eye of the World, the first book in this Wheel of Time series.

I hope I enjoy it as there are plenty more to get afterwards :)

I enjoyed this series, but it definitely is long-winded. I can't wait to hear what you think of it rune.:)

I read the first few pages of the first Wheel of Time, and it doesn't grip me in the least. All the more because what appears to be the "good guy" doesn't offer any reason to root for him - and the "bad guy" just seems like some form of caped supervillain from Victorian melodram. I found the scene descriptions very clumsy as well, and had real difficulty suspending disbelief. The first impression is that this is not going to be a book that challenges me on any level whatsoever as a reader. Not touched it for a while because of this.

I strongly recomend that you continue to read. The prologue is strange, I admit that. It almost made me stop as well. However, a few thousand pages later you will discover why it is written the way it is written.

And the "good guy" isn't the good guy either... RAFO :D

Oh, and hi everyone.

RJ recently had a stroke, and the series' completion is farther off than ever.

Hardly worth the time.

Authors with massively popular series, coming under immense pressure to deliver...seriously, that must be quite a strain to work under. It's almost not surprising that Feast of Crows isn't anywhere near release yet.

I'm sure it is quite a strain, and I have heard Martin goes to a lot of cons and book signings.

I haven't been waiting as long as some people have. I only just picked up the series this year. I almost feel bad for the people who have been waiting years for A Feast for Crows to come out.

I said:
There are general periodic reports about Jordan being ill? Maybe there will be about GRRM soon...
Brian, if that actually does happen I will blame YOU! :D

Well, that is what I heard, also that his son was aiding him in his writing.

The veracity of this is questionable, but it's either that, or he is milking his cow for all its worth.
