Robert Jordan?

Strange enough...I have enjoyed all of his books, prequel included.

Yes, there are a lot of plots and characters, but I have somehow managed to follow all of the twists and turns in his storyline! Must admit, not too keen on the 'woolhead' part but I guess that's how his 'country people' would talk!

I've just finished eye of time, and found it to be quite LOTRish. I'm giving book 2 a go though :)

Overall I'd say WoT is quite good, but RJ has a tendency to weave too many side plots, that makes it kinda hard to explain everything in just 12 books.

I think if he'd have kept up the pace of the first 6 books in the later ones then he wouldn't have had any problem at all fitting everything into 12 books. But when you look at everything crammed into KoD it becomes kind of worrying when Jordan claims he will finish it in one more book; there just seems so much left to cover.
