SG-1 Vids in the US

that is nothing like my city, we build out rather than up besides we have outback to build onto.
houses are pretty dear and nobody really lives in an apartment.
I suppose backyards are rare?

Most people have small ones becasue of the water limitation.
Every third or fourth house in our neighborhood has a pool. We are considered odd because we didn't want one and went for a house without one. We have a small back yard. But it is considered 'big' for urban So. Ca. But we like grass and it is cooler in the summer than concrete which surrounds the pools. Our next door neighbors to our left don't have a pool either. But the lady behind us and the neighbors who just moved into our right have one both have concrete or concrete and tile back yards. I think pools are more trouble than they are worth. Now, in So. Ca. we have to have a fence around the pool not just around the back yard. So when the lady who lives behind us sells her house she has to give the buyers an allowance for a fence.

Yep, we too have a very small backyard... but we have the outback to play in :)
ARG! i had this dying question i was gonna ask you about America..... but can't remember!

Ah! a minute later and i remembered!
does it snow where you live?

In Los Angeles itself it doesn't snow really. We have had a few dusting probably 5 in the past one hundred years that melts as soon as it hits the ground.

It does now in the mountains not far from where we live. About 45 miles away. We can see the snow on the mountain tops during the winter. Last year it was a thrill to go out on our balcony during clear crisp days and see that!

Does it snow where you are?

Hehe, the question should be "Does it rain where you are ?" :)

Nup, never snowed here (but i have been to Victoria (another state) and up in the Blue MOuntains it snows, and i have been there)

Quote "The driest State in the Driest Country" that is where i live, Summer is commin up so we get 45 degrees for weeks at a time :) not very nice!

Whoa, whoa, WHOA!!!! Watch it with the throwing away shoes!!! Shoes are crucial (of course, along with jewelry . . .)!

Hehe, the 'piggies' will jail ya for minor offences like that? Do they all eat donuts?

I have never heard of a police officer referred to as a "piggie." It is usually much less respectful than that. And yes, Channel 5 has certainly caught them on tape (here) eating donuts.

And it ices and (sometimes) snows in Dallas and north of here. I am from Houston and when I moved to Dallas a friend told me I needed to make sure I had covered parking -to avoid the HAIL destroying my car (convertible) 3-4 times each year. HAIL????? I lived in Houston most of my life. We have HURRICANES, NOT HAIL!!! CERTAINLY NOT SNOW!!! That first year was a new experience!

And we grow out (obviously) because we have so much land. I didn't particularly realise it until I was in middle school and was trying to tell a friend from New York I met over the summer about apartments. Ours are only 2 stories high, where as they build up - less land. I really hadn't considered it until then.

The pics of Sydney (from the Olympics) from the bridge were just fantastic. I doubt any photo could do it justice. Beautiful. And the people were so great. I don't know how the Australians feel about it, but the talk over here on the NBC stations was that, if Greece doesn't get its act in line ASAP, Sydney could have the Olympics again in four more years . . . I wonder if anyone in Australia was told that?

And the history about your Opera House was really wonderful - it was shown two or three times here. I think many people taped the special.

Sorry - didn't mean to butt in - I'm just fascinated by other people's countries and where they live.

Adios!

I am going skiing at Thanksgiving and Christmas. Does that count? But not in Texas.

Texane, you are not butting in. I love to hear all this stuff, too. Started out in Vermont and ended in California. From one coast to another to say nothing of the change in language across the boarder! as well as the change in longitude!

Knew about the tornados but not about the hail! Enough to ruin a car? Whoa! That is bad news!

Where are you going for the snow?

Utah and Vail. (With my cousin sean. I think we've agreed that hot toddies and a good CD player are going to be crucial this season).

Sounds like a Winner to me! especially the hot toddies and the good CD player. JUST DON"T BREAK A LEG! But if you must find the cutest doctor and have fun!

doctor, lawyer, indian chief . . . housepets are permitted in any variation, so long as they meet the most crucial criterion.

{I'm gonna catch it for that, aren't I jsc?} hehehehehehe

*confused*

i think i missed something in Texane's flurry of posts.....

I am very GLAD he missed something! He is fourteen and maybe we should rate this forum to give him another helpful clue.

Girl, you better ENJOY that vacation!
