Many Latinos see my son and immediately address him in Spanish or spanglish. Same problem. He wants a "T" that says, Yo soy solamente Anglo-African American! Healso wanted to add some other things but I want to keep the shirt 'g' rated.

Actually, no. But he and I have to log in and out every time now because we share the same computer. Sometimes he gets lazy and won't but I can log him out and get on. We are bothing getting better at it. And not that I have got that under controll, I am waiting for the next incident.......

That is never a problem at my home! just keeping the "t"s 'g' rated is....
We have some that I will NOT let my guys were outside the yard! And then I pray that my neighbors can't see them! My son i exspect to be a handful but when my brothers get impy.....:evil: I need a paper bag over my head and understanding neighbors... except for Bill who would join them!

It's quite funny, most of my friends have now worked out that the main reason I watch Stargate is for the handsome 'dark' guys - Ra,
then Apophis
and Skaara,
(neva been one for Teal'c), whereas I don't find Daniel or Jack at all attractive... well, after being subjected to my sister's raving bout RDA, I'm starting to warm to him...

Are most of your neighbors from Haiti? That was where most of the French speakers I first knew of came from or Martinique, then surprisingly ... Canada. There is a large African American population in Eastern Canada.... and many speak French to keep up with their Quebec neighbors!
Our Neighborhood is predominantly English Speaking... On our block we have an Asian American couple who are very nice and speak Chinese.... But Spanish is not predominant here as it is in many places in South Central!

I am from Louisiana, my heritage is French , Native American, and Afro-American. I am what people in this neck of the woods call Creole/Cajun.
Many of the inhabitants who are originally from here are Heinz 57, but most of my Afro neighbors either have no interest in their heritage or deny it. Hence my "out of touch w/roots" comment.
I have a very rainbowish neighborhood. Oriental, Afro, Caucasian and Native American. LOL

The French language is a passion for me to learn, but i know more Spainish than French. I am interested in learning Native American, but you just don't pick one of those lightly. LOL when i finish my geneology hopefully i'll know which and where i would blend best. You must have blood ties for them to except you into the tribe and sometimes that's not definate. My Afro heritage, i don't think i'll hold my breath till i find out which tribe that was, because if you know anything about slave records you know they were not as good most think they were.

Slave records were terrible. People always say West Africa was where the 'slaves' came from.... They forget about central Africa and the Eastern side altogether... They should read some of the stories that the Africans themselves wrote about the trade and see how people came from everywhere and were captured everywhere and were taken to central locations to be shipped off to the Americas, Europe and even places in Africa.
Many African Americans are proud of their Native American roots especially in California, even if they don't know the name of the Nation or Nations they derived from... And for many years some people here passed as Native Americans rather than African Americans as that was more acceptable....

Sometimes i think the whole world forgets about little ole Louisiana. But yes, we do still speak French down here. Even though many lost that part of their heritage when in Avoyelles Parish they refused them the right to speak in school any language other than english. They were so hororable to those poor people that the teacher would paddle them any time they spoke in French. My father was done like that in his childhood. Hence my ignorance of the language. I only know sparse phrases, counting and of course the profanity. (that i am not proud of) Must be why i want to teach. and often do unintentionally. LOL
