YEAH, ABSOLUTELY!!! If RDA is going to be at Gatecon 2001, maybe I'll start to save up money. ;)

Wishes: RDA at GateCon

I was online during the chat [no ... the moderator didn't listen to any of my questions] and I can tell you, I got a chill down my back when Rick called it '... our first con ...'. Then, to have him come out and say he was looking at next year was wonderful!

Believe me, we're all wishing, hoping and working hard for next year and would be 'more' than happy to see this happen.

Hey. We're fans too! :}

I dont know if this has been brought up before, but how about some kind of trivia contest? I know there was one put together by... geez, i can't remember, Sekh maybe? Sorry i can't remember, i know there were a few people who put the questions together! It was great! Is there anyway to do that on a larger scale for next year? Maybe do something like they did as a preliminary quiz before the con and narrow it down to a certain amount before the weekend, and then do like quarterfinals, semifinals and finals during three days of the con? Too much? :) Or maybe a smaller version of that? I think it'd be alot of fun!!

Jamie :)

Welcome JJACKSON SG1

HI!, Thank you for posting!

I like the idea also. But I love quizzes even tho I do poorly at them they are still fun to take and test one's knowledge. We have some great quizzers here on our forum.

Feel free to kick back and enjoy our posts, we are friendly and someone will answer quiries, comments and even silliness and chit chat.

We have a lot of new sections going up here. Almost more and faster than a Queen can produce goa'uld larva! On your left you can see some of the new talk sites and we do have a BOOKS section for those of us who enjoy reading S.F., Fantasy and Horror.

There is even a Film section.

If you don't find a thread that you need please start a new one in the appropriate section! So relax and enjoy!

I would just love to be able to go to the con, but we live in Virginia and the trip would be horribly long, for two adults two kids and two dogs... sigh.
If I could go though, I would want to see the whole cast there (call me greedy) barring that I would love to see RDA and MS.
Just my two cents.

Hi, Arianrhod, Welcome

Hello, Arianrhod, and welcome to our forum.

I, too, would love to go. Perhaps, someday.
I like your choices. I like the cast, and maybe RDA will go to the Gatecon this year in Vancouver. We all hope so. Visit the Gatecon site and check it out. People have posted their experiences and it is fun to read them. And they have Great pictures, too!

http://www.gatecon.com

The names at the top are the other universes you can visit at the click of a mouse. But the Most useful one for Stargate is the pull down menu at the bottom of the page. If you like to write, you can join us in Chit Chat or Fan Fic for a round robin style fun feast. bizzare, 'round robin' fan fic and Santa's Secret are the two going now.

Look around, post but mind the spoilers (Give SPOILER SPACE) and no flames, please. We love to answer question, quiries or just chat. If you feel brave enough and can't find the thread you want please feel free to start one. Enjoy!

well i'd add my wish for bloopers but...guess that's really unlikely.
i for one am totally psyched to be going, my first sci-fi con, my first trip out of the country and my first trip to canada.

i guess if everyone can't be there, really wish theywould but...hey they got alife too...i wish there would be some way to get attendees autographs of the stars that don't go. in other words if ms or rda doesn't show up it'd really be nice if there would be a way for us to get autographs after the fact.

i'm just really hoping i don't act like a star struck weenie.

The first list of confirmed guests should be going up on the site today.

We have a few new additions to last year, and I am very excited about a couple that are coming, especially one of my favorites... Carmen Argenzianno (Jacob carter).

Anyway, check out the site for the list.

I am proud to say that I didn't act like a star struck weenie when I attended the Star Trek con I went to a few years ago. Though I do have to admit that I do find the guys on Stargate a lot more attractive....
So I might just act like a weenie myself if I saw one of the cast members. Who know's....?
I don't think that we are going to be able to make it, because I am almost positive that my hubby, when he gets home, is going to want to take a nice long vaction in May. He is in the Navy and on a six month deployment right now. I don't think I could get him to wait until September. We retire in 18 months, can't wait...can't wait.
Just in case though, is there anyone out there who knows anything at all about the accomidations there?
HOw much etc...? After all we are a part of the real military and we don't get paid as much as everyone thinks. Not the enlisted anyway.
Thanks in advance.

there is info on the website. generally the accomoditations are at the best western where the con is held and the rooms are roughly 115 a night(with one kind 145...the site has all the gory details)
it's possible you could find someone to roomie with and split the cost.
i know i have a double room and would be more than willing to have share a room with someone if it'll save me 50 ish a night.

there is more info on the room sharing thread

Thanks a lot for the offer, but there would be four of us, and we would still have to find someone to take the dogs. I sure do wish we could go, but 115 a night is too much for us considering we would have to drive or fly there from Virginia....
Plus I haven't gotten over a near flying accident when I was younger, I kind of have a problem with heights. I was in an Army helicopter with problems...

Hi! Just thought i'd point out that the 115 is Canadian, so if your coming from the US, it works out cheaper, i think last year it ended up being about $75 US? Something along those lines, it was really great!
Just booked the room for myself and a friends, ohhhh i can't wait!!!! Only... 8 more months? ahhh!! lol

Jamie :)

You know, I didn't think about it being Canadian....
Duh, Maybe we could swing it. Drive up to MI Hitch a ride with family and take a train or some thing. Sounds like fun. Better start saving huh?

Stargate Conventions

I'd like to see a SG Convention held at Madison Square Garden in NY. All the stars should be there, ready to talk, sign autographs, take pics and HAVE FUN! Also, I'd like to see bloopers shown from each season.

Bloopers...

These are really everybody's big wish, but Amanda Tapping mentioned that other than 1st season, the show really doesn't have any blooper reels. It has to do with the way they film and edit.

Although, for a 'better-than-blooper' environment, make sure you make all the panels at GateCon. Some of the things that happened last year were *better* than bloopers.

As this is a *family* forum, I'll only allude to the disscussion between Jay Acovone and JR Bourne on the topic of 'Boxers or Briefs' and the 'visual display' that went with said discussion. :}

ooh i hadn't totally realized that. the 134 with tax is canadian? wow, that helps a lot.
for those of you that are flying, i heard a rumor that it's cheaper to fly into portland then drive to vancouver even with a rental car. i've heard it's 1 1/2 to 3 hrs drive...you know if you live in the states and if south west goes there, it's around (very around i haven't checked lately) 100 each way for the ticket...don't know about the car

Driving...

Not Portland! That's that in Oregon, an extra state away and puts you over 7 hours away on a really good driving day. You mean Seattle, WA., the state just south of the Canadian border. It's only about 3 hours from there. I live in Tacoma, WA - just 30 mile south of Seattle - and a little over 3 hours is my usual driving time if the border corssing's not backed up. Firday afternoon/evening and Sunday afternoon/evening are the really bad times.
