Convention Wish List

oops....sorry. got my pacific northwest all messed up. thanks.

course it isn't as bad as what my boss told me. when i told her i was going to vancouver she said 'hey, maybe you can go see niagra falls while you're there.'
fortunately i knew just enough geography to tell her it was only 3000 miles away :D

Driving...

My husband worked for Social Security at one time and there were a bunch of 'Big Bosses' that came out for Maryland for a meeting. They had their meeting in Auburn, WA [20 min. south of Seattle] at 0900 and figured they could just 'pop' in the car and drive east to Spokane, WA for lunch and catch their 1300 meeting.

Well ... Spokane is on the east border of WA. state - an 8 hour drive *if* the passes through the Cascade Mountains [around 10,000 feet] are clear. They'd just looked at a map and must have figured if it takes only a couple of hours to drive border to border on the map of Maryland, it must work that way in Washington.

They were sadly dissapointed.

Glad they wen't looking at the North-South map of California. :}

just a hmmm for any Eastern N.A.'s travelers ... Western Canada's economy airline, "WestJet" ... http://www.westjet.com ... for the first time is going to start serving Toronto ... so if you've got a way to get that far, this would be your cheapest connector flight to Vancouver ... I'd estimate $150.00 Canadian one way ...

and from experience, all the non-Canadian Gatecon 2000 attendees I met were floored at how reasonable everything in this fair country was ... can't foresee our Dollar being worth any more than it is now!

Aside from your ticket, airfare, hotel, and meals there were virtually no added expenses ...

and those of you that are worried about the "weenie" factor ... last year was my first convention of any kind ... after the approachability and warmth of the stars (DSD, TR, JRB, PW) at the coctail party, Gatecon 2000 felt like a big family (add these are the family members you actually like! :) ) get together ...

as for my wish list ... just 3 ... Rick! Rick! and Rick! Am hoping MG will drag Rick along, at the very least, for a forum chit chat!!!!!!!

Guest Update

The following guests have confirmed that they will be attending Gatecon 2001 (commitments pending) as of 2/17/2001.

Teryl Rothery (Dr Janet Fraiser), Jay Acovone (Charles Kawalski), Bill Nikolai (Controller and RDA standin), Brent Stait (Feretti), Tony Amendola (Bra'tak), Michael Greenburg (Executive Producer), JR Bourne (Martouf), Peter Williams (Apophis), Carmen Argenzianno (Jacob Carter / Selmak) and Ray Brazeau (Harlan).

We are still waiting for confirmation from other guests, and they will be posted here once they confirm.

If you have any suggestions or request on folks you'd like to see [other than Rick Anderson and Michael Shanks... believe me, we're working on that. :}], please let us know.

{And yes, Allan... I 'lifted' the guest copy from the web site. After you did such a good job, why should I reinvent the wheel? :} }

I would like to see a Q&A forum with the writers and directors.

Any chance of showing the 2010/Gladiator video? Has anyone asked the creator? This is a fantastic video and I think it would be well appreciated by the fans.

Hi KMG,

We actually did have a Q&A section with the writers, directors etc. Actaully we had everyone... Executive producers, cameramen, lighting guys, special effect, makeup.... You name it... They were there at Gatecon 2000. And we plan to have them all back (and more) for Gatecon 2001.

As for the video.....

I'm in two minds about that..... Firstly because I create my own music video's for Gatecon.

And secondly, there are so many copyright issues with using fan made stuff. I wont risk people getting into trouble with copyright infringements, especially when you have things like a stargate video (MGM) that has another studio's content (Gladiator), and especially when it is my (and Gatecon's) butt on the line.

So many MGM and Stargate Productions executives attend Gatecon, and they don't think too highly on copyright infringement.

Anyway...The gatecon music video's are high quality, exciting and highly entertaining video's... You'll just have to come to Gatecon to see them.

Regarding the video, I should have realized that. sorry.

Sorry if I came across heavy about that.

Some of the fan based stuff, video's, fanfic, art etc is absolutely fantastic stuff. I have heard some rave reviews about the stargate/gladiator video, even though I havn't seen it myself yet.

Gatecon Music Videos

Some of us, however, being at the registration desk, missed out on seeing the GateCon Music vids you did.

WAHHHH!!!

And I wanted to see them. <sigh>

Wish List

Hello everyone,

I'm going to de-lurk for a moment to throw in my 2 cents.

My two requests have already been mentioned but I figured the more people that voice an interest the better. Maybe this will help guests that are not sure about attending decide to come. My suggestions may be people that did come last year, I don't know. I was unable to attend last year. If they were, please excuse my redundancy.

I would like to see the people who create the music in SG-1 come to Gatecon. The music in each episode is one of my favorite parts of the show (besides the actors, writing, special effects, etc. etc. etc. - what's not to like, right?).

I know some of the writers came last year. I would love to see the M&M team come. (Joseph Mallozzi & Paul Mullie) They were such a big part of season 4.

OK, that was probably more than my 2 cents. I'll go back to lurking now.

Gaea

2 cents

But it's a good 2 cents. These are the sort of ideas and comments we like to hear. It gives us ideas. When you get deeply involved with a production such as GateCon, sometimes it's easy to focus in on your specific area of responsibility and miss these other perspectives.

Thanks for bringing them up. :D

Hi Gaea,

We did talk briefly to the M&M team (I love it !!!)

We talked briefly to Joseph & Paul while we were at the studio, and I gotta tell you... What a funny pair... And I mean that in a Ha...Ha way.

I would love to have them there at Gatecon 2001. They were asked for 2000, but didn't come. (Actually, don't quote me on that because many of the team turned up unannounced and sat quietly in the audience without us knowing exactly who was there.)

I especially want them to come, because they have written a song... and put words to the Starage SG-1 Theme. I Gotta hear that.

Song

Oh, I *really* have to hear that! Maybe we can get them to come over to the kareoke party?

:D

Out takes

You unfortunately won't get any outtakes at all.

Ever sice the production moved to shooting on film stock, it just get's too expensive if they print everything.

They only print what is needed, and out takes and bloopers are very rare for SG-1.

There IS a season 1 blooper reel, but Stargate productions won't part with it at all.

Sigh...I too just wish it were closer. Maybe one day, I'll make it to one. Can't wait to hear from those who do make it, though.:aliengray

I too would liekt o see the bloopers.. now that would make a great piece for a convention

Wish they would release that season 1 blooper tape.....maybe in a few years when they wanna get some money coming in eh?

If they showed it at a convention that would be awesome though.......

Carkedit :dead:

*whose a cynic at heart*

We try our best to get stuff like that.

Depending on how things go, and depending how much we crawl, you never know.... It might get there.

It would be a great bonus
