ATTAC

No! Don't shut up, you are too much fun to reply to!

Yes, because the Goa'uld are the whipping boys currently doesn't make them all bad and the progenitor of the Tok'Ra was not separated from the Goa'uld she just had a different Idea and apparently many of her babies came out carrying that idea genetically... as a dominant.... people still have trouble with the idea of variety in genetics and how many other factors control the geen pool... rather than just dominant and recessive genes....Stargate tries for complexity but using the Goa'uld as whipping boys is very common for our culture.... I still remember seeing American Natives being depected as savages and Blacks(with few excepts~Juano Hernandez, BlackFilms from teens, twenties and some in thirties... Blaxspoitation films of late sixties and seventies etc.) as loyal or disloyal servants. We haven't come that far just changed the person to exploit....

YES!! Precisely! Unfortunately, because we aren't out in the galaxy and are cloistered here on earth, we project those attitudes on anything we consider to be different. Different colour, different religion. How could we possibly even begin to accept a species like the Goa'uld if we can't even accept the differences between ourselves!

Disliking and torturing somebody because they're an intelligent reptilian species who need to use hosts is as ridiculous and as horrific as disliking someone because they are black or native American. Every sentient being has the ability to choose a course of action or a way of life. We can choose to be 'good' and we can choose to be 'bad'. The Tok'ra chose another way, but it doesn't mean that they totally forget what it's like to be Goa'uld.

Unfortunately most people see things in the most simplistic of terms because it's the easy thing to do. We do what 'socety' and the authorities tell us because we have learnt to be dumbed down. We dehumanise in order to make ANy horrific treatment of something/someone different to us in order to make it acceptable. We call them the 'enemy' making them faceless and potentially dangerous and devise long range methods of killing, rather than to get up close and personal. To do that would make them into individuals and harder to kill. We call them by derisive names..... niggers, honkies, geeks......to make them less than human so we feel it's okay to hurt them. In anything like the Stargate show, we have to dehumanise the Goa'uld and call them 'Goulds', 'snakeheads' and 'snakes' and unfortunately the Jack character is one of the worst offenders for this kind of contempt, which is why he would be the last person allowed on a diplomatic mission. Daniel wouldn't be allowed because he has a personal emotional reason, Teal'c because he has too many personal vendettas. In fact the only one who would be tolerated would be Sam. And primarily because she has the experience, albeit briefly, of being a host and could give a diplomatic team some insight into what they might be dealing with.

Oh JSC, you made me do it again!

Nasssssty, ain't I!

I love it when I can draw people out! It is fun! Yes, I have enjoyed Jack nattering on and 'dehumanizing' the emeny Goa'ulds and Tok'Ra an everyone else that doesn't agree... RDA must be having fun with his character.... as he espouses much the same philosophy as you or I do..... I love it when he talks about the dark side of people and I am sure as we have he has been there.... and I do love the subtleties he goes for ! Names have a powerful call.... (After all he is in the same decade we are... Same goes for DSD )... but your couple of Ellie and Al reminded me of me and a play it cool Hammond if not for the color .... the wieght and the fact that we were nice Americans... LOLLOL!!! Loved the interp of Ellie giving Al his indegestion meds so he couldn't dream.... but the fact they return to Egypt again and again says something for them ... like they enjoy desecrating tombs with their breath.... which I why my family will only see replacates and not the "real" thing.

Parts of my family came over here (to US) and started starving (first selves then others) and wiping out people to get land and freedom so they could terrorize others who came over for land and freedom. (Loved the irony of it.... ) Was it in your Anukh story or autobio where the people were talking about the immigrants who were taking the low pay jobs and sending money to families... reminded me so of the situation we have with the "illegals" who come here to work and how poorly they get treated.

Anni,

WOW! So many interesting and deep views. Many of which I agree, but as you said
We are in reality nowhere near being ready to make 'first contact' with other species, because we are too bound up in our own hangups.
Until we can end world hunger, stop judging a person by the color of his skin and just basically learn the bare necessities of love, peace and happiness, man should not be allowed to leave his own backyard.

However, what will be will be. Because Man came to America and eventually hashed out what is known as "Manifest Destiny"

I just continue to Pray.

TESTIFY! Sister, TESTIFY!

Manifest Destiny is another of those wounds that never heal, just as the Dread Scott Decision by the Supreme Court. Unfortunately we have a way of slipping out of our own back yard..... We wandered from Africa to Asia Minor then Europe, Asia, Aulstralia , the Americas and the Islands... we extend ourselves... wish we could extend our awareness of others as well.

Thanks ladies, This is a great Sunday.... are we sermonizing to the choir as I haven't heard many discenting voices and we must hear some...

Amen!

Your welcome JSC.
Deal in truth however offensive it may be, because truth shall make you free. And that's Bible. Enjoy talking to you. Thanks for listening and being who you are.
A seemingly intelligent, strong, honest member of sisterhood. ;) :D

Thank you! Have you met Geronimo yet! Nice young man and in the ugliest human thread he though it was all of us.... really like that!

Kel sha,

hehe - the question is if only the goa'uld is drunken or only the host is drunken or both are drunken ... ;)
perhaps the tau'ri will catch one of our brave jaffa warrior i'm sure they'll try it (like we when we catch tau'ri hosts) :) :)

Kree sha

Kel sha, Geronimo!

Glad you showed up here as Iwanted you and Ms. Gudbod to meet!

Kree sha!

kel sha msgudbot,

kree sha

Thanks, Geronimo.

I thought that was what Kel Sha and Kree (??) meant.
My apologies if i just messed them up , not very good with alien language

Just love to hear Teal'c speak it.

Oh! and about the alcoholic convo.........I didn't get to read it. I spent a whole day reading and some got a bit too weird for even me to understand. But God has sent me JSC to guide me. :D

Those and Austrian! Kel sha is a goa'uld greeting and Kree sha is a good by equilivant!

kel sha,

i collected much goa'uld vocabularies and in the most "kel sha" is declared as a greeting like "hi" ... and "kree sha" is declared as a "bye" or so ..
but if one of these expressions isn't correct written plz tell me ;) thx

kree sha

Ms. Gudbod,

Geronimo has been known to post and nip and post but not often. He is also Austrian. As usual if I am a guide then you are LOST! LOLLOL!!!!:rolly2: :rolly2: :rolly2: :rolly2: :rolly2:

kel sha,

nip and post ... *LOL* ... perhaps i should enter an difficult PW to my PC (or a number code) that i couldn't switch it on after some glasses :D :D

i saw the eps "serpent's grasp" & "serpent's lair" yesterday and i like it very much ...
if they could change the end a little bit it would be perfect ;) :rolly2:

kree sha

shhhh. Keep this on the down low.
I like them too, but if yuo tell anybody, i'll deny it. LOL:upto:

kel sha,

saw ur signature and i asked me from which the quote "my god is always with me" is ? Teal'c ? any Jaffa ?? ;)

or is it from an Tau'ri ?

kree sha

No Geronimo, not Teal'c. It's from the episode "Demons" I took it from the little priest who was trying to save the girl. He says it when unas is about to kill him, but he doesn't. It was so true to me, because Jesus is always with us no matter where or what we do.

Where have you been anyway? I haven't seen you around for awhile. Off on Jaffa business? LOL:D
