Great idea for a thread Skip.
OK, off the top of my head...
What about that one in 'Guards! Guards!' with,
"Throw the book at him, Carrot."
"Right sir!"
Vimes remebered too late, Dwarfs have trouble with metaphors, they also have very good aim. The book struck the secretery on the forehead. Wonse blinked, staggered, and stepped backwards. It was the longest step he ever took. For one thing, it lasted the rest of his life.
Hmm, I know thats more of an extract then an actual qoute, but I just love that scene.

We are supposed to be friendly here and what happened to make you sad wasn't friendly. I AM SORRY. Read what Skydiver has to say and ignore the rest! If I could contact you by email I would have said the same thing. People unfortunately forget what it is like to be new. That newness means taking risks and being both right and wrong. It can be very difficult to feel so vulnerable. And it is worse to feel new and get scraped like that.
Ignore the harsh remarks most of the idiots don't realize how they sound and would be hurt that you were hurt. Hope they realize it from you post there. Don't give up! We like you and you have a lot to say! As for butting in, well I just did. Keep coming back ... we might be worth it.

OK then, take a look at these:

It was possibly the most circumspect advance in the history of military manoeuvres, right down at the bottom end of the scale that things like the Charge of the Light Brigade are at the top of.
I've got these only because my sister found a programme, initially meant for 'Friends' quotes, but you can change it for others (E.g, my copy includes Discworld, Pern, and 'Hitch Hikers...' and SG-1).
Lastly, one of my faves 'De Chelonian Moblie!'

Latin! I haven't done latin for two years......Oh, wait, I get it. It's to do with the language stuff in 'Feet of Clay', isn't it? Here's my lot then:
Give a man a fire and he's warm for a day, but set fire to a man and he's warm for the rest of his life.
It is better to light a flamethrower then curse the darkness.
Bel Shamharoth was the flip side of the coin on which Good and Evil are on the same side.
A vauge translation on your Latin Skip - 'Arsenic in the candles', or something to that effect, if I remeber FOC correctly.

Art being both archaic ‘is’ and a pun(e) on the bloke’s name whilst the Ars…enixia elided in English (or Morporkian) to be Arsenic candel(am). Which was the Dragon King of Arms’ idea of a 4 way joke and is about the level of my mentality as I can remember it!
I still love the ‘Pecuni’- I have sinned, meaning; I have Sind.
Sind being a town a bloke conquered. I can’t remember names but I can remember quotes that are puns! How sad!

I like it. Mine is just weird and need some thought. I do have an idea tho... Love the quote. I'm reading the Truth now and I love Tulip '-ing' is what I say. Nice big pause. I hung around too many guys in uniform and that is the best I can do now as I'm permanatly scarred
