Hey ShelbyS, im 17 too, damn i wish i was going to BOBW now, finally some on who is 17 and loves stargate, but why do you have to live in Canberrra??? i think.

This is a new thing for me too, I don't know anyone my age who loves Stargate either. Canberra is okay, it just has a bad reputation in Oz (politics and all). But the way I see it, it's only 3 hours from Sydney, any furthur away than that and I wouldn't be going to the con. So I'm thankful I live so close. It's also good when there is a concert on at the Sydney Entertainment Centre, someone big who dosn't come to Canberra, we can just drive up and see it.

If you live in canberra, have you seen the advert for BOBW XI on PRIME TV? and apparently there is going to be an announcement (nation wide) at the end of next weeks eppy, about the con.

Yeah I saw the advert on TV. They only had it on twice. Once each week after the episode. That was about 4 weeks ago. However, I don't think they will be playing the ad nation wide, because bookings for tickets closed two weeks prior to the Convention (Feb 2,3,4). And the window of opportunity for ticket purchase has already closed. (ps. no pun intended w/the WofO thing.)That's unless they've changed the time period.

cool you have a digital camera (drooling) next year, ill bring my laptop and you bring your camera, and well be able to upload to the net strait away!!!!!

cool, sounds great!!!

Did you guys know about the absentee pack?
BOBW will send you an absentee pack for $70.00. You get an autographed convention book and some other things, the price also includes postage to anywhere in Australia.
Just email someone @ BOBW for more info if you are interested. I think you can still order them.
Their website has the em addy of the people running it.

It was on the form they sent to me to purchase tickets. I was going to get one if I wasn't going. I had to get down on my hands and knees and beg mum and dad to let me to go. Finally dad said he'd take me but I had to pay for his ticket. I swear I have been working all the shifts I can get for the last 2 months trying to get enough money to buy for it. Now I have some spending money too which is good.

eheh, good way to put it :)

absentee packs hey? no doubt JAD has one (or is) going to order one, *sighs* i wish i had some money :(

i might, ill call adele a week after the con, and buy a heap of stuff :)

is adele personal friend, or the other thing... whateva it would be?

i betcha u will buy up, i'm already really jealous of ur collection.....

i have talked to all the people there, and i have gotten on really well with them. and yes, i will buy up :D

so adele is a stargate fan who goes to the cons?

remember the leave some money over for the vids and dvds!!

Adele runs the conventions, and yes i will leave money for the vids and DVDs i get $350 next week :D :D

so uhmm... Gatecon? do u know adele?

i have about $70 in my wallet, and need $30 for my debts, so i should be fine for the vids!

gatecon should know adele.
and dont spend til you get the new vids, id hate for someone to miss out!

i want spend it but its sad, all my pocketmoney goes to Stargate.... :)

i never ever got pocket monet  but that is because ive had different jobs since i was 12, so ive never really needed it.

i live off $10 a week!!!!
i have never had a job, but i am looking

I don't get pocket money anymore either. Ever since I've had a job mum and dad don't give me any money. So I have to survive on crappy Big W wages. Most of my money goesto Stargate as well.

BIG W?? is that like Kmart?? we dont have them in Tassie. what sort of discount do you get?

yup, BIGW is like kmart but bigw always has like a 5% off everything, its really weird.... although i don't like the layout of bigw stores :)

There are usually a good percentage of people who turn up to cons that are 17 or so, but you will usually find (and I don't know why) that most of the people who turn up to cons are usually in their mid to late 20's and 30's.

I don't think it's a case of older people likeing the show more, I think it comes more down to money.

And Canberra's not too bad. Like you say... it's only the impression that the rest of OZ has of it. I'm a Canberra local (actually just the other side of the border), but i've lived in canberra for about 4 years now, and i like the place. And it's close enough to Sydney for me.

I would have liked to offer rides for anyone in the ACT, but I had to bum a lift myself for this one.

See ya's all in 5 days. :)

do any 14 yr olds end up going?

you can pick me up if you want gatecon..... just drive west for about 10hrs until you hit middle SA :)

Hey, at Gatecon we had an 8 year old. He was dressed up as a Jaffa, so we organised it with Peter Williams to get him up on stage, and he was named as Apophis' new first prime. It was cool.

I would love to come over and pick you up, but i'm not the driver, and petrol money is tight.

We should really plan for the next con, and get some car pools going, or something. I'm sure we should be able to find similar people that wouldn't mind getting a group together and sharing travelling expenses. It's worth a thought.

We will get you to a con yet Martouf.
