padders, you're being ornry.... ok folks, so...what do we think should come up in sam's hopefully revealed private life?

what do you think her appt will look like. if you've seen shades of grey or daniel's apt in the light, they must get paid pretty well so...what are your ideas?

hehe.. i know it happens once in a while...

sam's life:

1. parents
2. friends
3. out of work activities/work
4. romantic interests
5. what she did before she worked at the sgc.
6. how she got to work at the sgc (or do we know that??)

First things first, I wanna see her on that bike!!!!
Then, just normal things, she must leave the mountain at some point, it would be nice to see her brother and her nieces/nephews, maybe see her with Cassie, maybe taking a holiday. Hey, they could all go on holiday! They could go to.....England! Yeah, that'd be cool! <Woah, reality check> Oh, okay, very unlikely. Never mind!

Very unlikely aurora

but about sams apt. i so wanna see it. we're all assuming that teal'c lives in his quarters on the base, you could let yourmind wander on what sams apt. looks like...

i picture it sorta feminine but plainer than daniels...she'd move a lot.
and plants...gotta have plants.
since the sgc is so dank and dreary, i picture her apt light and airy...
neat and clean but i don't see tons of pictures hanging on the wall...they'd be an albums

I read that in series five they are planning to show Sam's place. I think Brad Wright mentioned it when he recently let slip a few vague comments about Season 5.

I think Sam's apartment would probably be quite spartan?

She doesn't strike me as being homey, yeah it'll probably be clean etc but very necessity stuff.

J

i agree. no where near as cluttery as daniels.
i mean growing up in a military family that moves every few years, then moving herself...she'd tend not to collect too much.
the first think i thought when i saw danny's place is...gee must be a *itch to dust all that klatch.

Probably not a cluttery place like Skydiver says...but a lot of family momento's or pictures, small things easily packed up whenever she gets a transfer...Who knows, maybe the opposite...you know, may after the sameness of military, she lets herself go at home...as an outlet of her of sides that she is unable to express when in a military environment. If she is like my family...a home filled with momentos of things purchased while stationed oversees....Heck,just visit my parents and see their living room, almost everything in it at one time was purchased while we were in southeast Asia....artwork,furiture,knick-knacks. On the other hand, after my dad retired they began decorating the home with much more substantial (less movable stuff) like marble and wood antique furiture inherited from my mother's side of the family.

ok. not to totally keep adjusting my opinion but...she would have some momentos...i personally would love it if we see stuff from missions(like if that headdress from simarka is there i'll just die.)
but i don't see much family stuff...until the last year or two she rarely saw jacob(she barely recognized him in secrets) and is distanced from mark and his family(i personally think it's one of those, see you at christmas, realtionships so...family pics would be put away.
they're not a part of her life, at least not until recently.
i picture white walls, comfy sofa. maybe a typical bachelor 'toys' ie, nice tv, stereo etc...if you've ever been around a military town, there's a big market for the boys & their toys.
there would be stuff around, not as much as danny though, heck his apt looked as cluttered as our house and we've lived here for 25 years, not 2-4 like he has.
there would be a big window and plants. but not extremely delicate plants unless she has a neighbor watering them for her cause she's away for days to weeks at a time.
i keep picturing cacti...they grow themselves.
definitely a decent computer so she could work at home and a small kitchen.
maybe the bedroom would be a little more plush, queen sized bed and big fluffy pillows.
dunno...just my mental pics

Yeah, she must have plants.

Remember, in One False Step she tells Jack and Daniel "I talk to my plants, okay?" So she obviously likes them (the plants, not Jack and Daniel, although she obviously likes them too) :)

Okay, well it would totally crack me up if Sam's place was a complete mess. Empty pizza boxes littering the floor, beer bottles overflowing the bin, scraggy socks that missed the laundry bin and some really BAAAD 1970's decor.
It would just be so funny coz it's the last thing you'd expect from our Sammy.

how about green & blue shag carpeting, headscarves hanging over the lights to create that colored look, bean bags on the floor and lava lamps?
(ya know about 10 years ago i actually looked at a house that still had green & blue shag carpeting...on the walls no less)

i also think the ceiling of her bedroom would be covered with those little glow in the dark stars...in real constellations no less.
or maybe earth's address :D

The girl's a scientist. She's gotta be absent-minded about the practicalities of life. [I know. I'm married to a scientist.] Stuff everywhere. A week's dirty dishes in the sink. The cat vainly trying to open the tin of cat food because Sam's heads off on another planet. The letters piling up in the letterbox and flowing out onto the floor.

Big question - who looks after their stuff, you know, mows the lawn, waters the plants when they're off-planet for a while?

Shag carpeting, I love it! Dirty dishes and a half-feral cat, lol, NOW your getting the picture. I reckon there should also be assorted motorbike bits in the hallway (apologies to those who haven't seen the motorcycle epi yet). Also, a VCR that's still in it's box coz she can't figure out how to work it. And some REALLY bad taste accessories (like the lava lamps ain't bad enuff). Maybe one of those paintings of cute puppies with a working clock in the corner (sorry but I really hate those things). And some absolute tat that was obviously an impulse buy from the Home Shopping Channel.
cheers
Mishkaz

people this is sam we're talking about.. the girl is very down to earth (welll sort of0 first of all... no animals for the fact that she's constantly off world and probably spends more time in her quarters than at home.

i got a problem though, if she lives in an apartment where does she keep the bike?

many apt buildings have an outdoor storage shed or carpoort...if she'd off world, well maybe she rides it to work and hammond lets her stash it somewhere

We've already met Jacob, her Dad. But does she have a mother?
In "The Tok'ra" Jacob has between 5 mins and 5 days to live according to the doctor, and the only person that showed up in the hospital to see him is General Hammond. It's a wonder he didn't just turn over and give up then!

In the epi where they're trying to save Jacob/Selmak in the hell planet (Netu?), and Sam's head is messed around with by Apophis, you get to see a memory of Jacob apologizing that Sam's mom was killed in a car accident (a taxi, I think), and Sam blamed him for a while coz her Mom only got the taxi when Jacob failed to pick her up because of his work commitments. Sam's brother continued to blame Jacob, hence their estrangement for so many years.
Think the epi was Jolinars memories, but I'm not sure.

cheers

Yep, that was Jolinar's memories.

I'd personally love to see Sam ride that bike through the gate and go off-roading on some alien planet. That'd be a hoot. Can't you just see her blowing through the event horizon and mowing down a bunch of stunned Jaffas?

I'm with Mishkaz on Sam's house: I think it'd be a mess, too. She's always on base, never home.
