New guns for SG1?

Fire-power .....back on track

Back to the original subject of the FN P90. I started this string a couple of weeks ago after I saw an episode where they were carrying them and I was curious. Even with 2 satellite dishes (DirecTv & Expressvu) and hundreds of channels, I haven't seen another episode that features the new guns. Does anyone know how many episodes there are that show the P90s? Has anyone seen them fire them? If so, can you forward any info on what kind of fire-power these babies have? I get Showtime and was wondering if they're airing the newest episodes there and if so, what days and times? gfps

They are fired in the episode where the team nick Chronos' mother ship I think. (Double Jeopardy)
Bye

The P-90 is a more powerful weapon than the MP5, and it is beigging to be used by SWAT, Special Ops, and Black Ops through the US. However, it will soon be outplaced by the OICW the new "Smart" gun of the united states military.

I still prefer an M249 SAW loaded with Hydra Shock Scorpions. But it would get in the way of climbing and other types of movement when compared to a P90. P90 has a very nice "ergonomic" design as well, but it still strikes me as too much of a "preppy" weapon.

Sixguns, Hoglegs, Scatterguns, Saddleguns etc...

When it comes right down to it, the P90 is not too far evolved from the 1st firearms/sidearms. You pull a trigger a hard metal projectile flies down the barrel and continues, usually until it impacts with someone/something - unless you are a really bad shot. Crude but effective! Against the mechanical spiders, Zats and other electronic weapons were ineffective. Thor was at their mercy. If he had an old sixgun or scattergun, he could have defended himself. Heck, even a good medievel mace would have been more effective than a zat!

The primary improvements with the P90 are ergonomic. It;s reputed ability to pierce so many layers of kevlar is more likely the reulst of improved ammunition.

The P90 is used by the SAS, German Security Police, US SWAT teams, and other "elite" units.

Sorry about making a second post but forgot about the zat issue.

I would think that any civilization capable of creating energy-based weapons would be capable of creating some form of an energy dispersal (or absorption) grid or device soon after. The absorption device would basically just be a big capacitor, which would release its energy to power other "devices" the holder had.

It would further make sense that differnt type of energy or plasma weapons would require different types of neutralizing defensive steps.

In the case of a zatnikatel, since it basically "shocks" the target, perhaps an anolgous defensive device would be like the wire mesh used to "harden" military electronics from EMP of nuclear blasts. A bit different but similar enough conceptually. You would block the "shock" and basically "insulate" the target. Multiple blast would have no effect since supposedly each shot from a zat is at the sasme energy and frequency levels, and since each is blocked there would be no cumulative effect.

just give me my 9mil. For me it is easy to carry, ammo is easy to store and well It handles like a dream............I love it. I hit the target all the time.......

but "slug throwers" don't work well in a zero-g environment. and 9 mm has a lower stopping power (but won't go thru walls if you miss - which is why police departments use them now). i'd prefer a .45 with a decent sized clip loaded with hydra-shock scorpion ammo.

Friendly Fire?

I sure hope our local police never get any P90s. I'd hate to catch a stray round from a cop who was trying to shoot someone on the next block. Those armor piercing rounds could probably penetrate a couple of houses on the way to my butt! :dead:
