4.18: Where The Wild Things Are

[Asmiley: hmm maybe if buffy hadn't been so occupied Willow might still be straight...]

eh, right.

Or maybe if it hadn't rained that day?

Come on, Asmiley, surely you don't think that sexual orientation is so easily mallible.

There was a more on-topic discussion of the same subject going on at the Willow the....gay.. forum. But now it's degenerated into a discussion of TV schedules.

Why is it always you that's moaning Obcooke? Something supernatural put Tara and Willow first together in that house anyway didn't it?

[Vampyre: Why is it always you that's moaning Obcooke?]

Because I care that you can't tell what is being discussed by looking at the supposed topic. Some really good topics {like Willow's sexual orientation} are quickly taken over by frivilous chatting that's only of interest to a few of the "in" crowd for thier own amusement. It's rude to the rest of us not to start a new topic if you want to change the subject or start a private conversation.

[Vampyre: Something supernatural put Tara and Willow first together in that house anyway didn't it?]

I checked the transcript of that episode and I don't find anything that advanced their relationship in it. They were already an item when this story took place. They just went to a party at the frat house together.

There was one moment when Tara pulled away from Willow and accused her of being "disgusting" which left little doubt as to what their relationship was. But there's nothing in this particular episode that was significant to thier growing love. Did you have something in particular in mind?

Perhaps if you didn't just moan about it all the time and just say something 'on topic' that you want to talk about then others would talk about that subject

It was exactly that instance that I was talking about, Willow made an advance.

WILLOW: Horses, like big ... tall ... teeth that can take your arm off horses?

TARA: Well, sure. I learned to ride when I was a kid. It's fun. And, by the way, most horses don't like arm very much.

WILLOW: I had a bad birthday party pony thing when I was four. I, I look at horses and I see really big ponies.

TARA: You should ride with me sometime. I guarantee safety and fun.

WILLOW: Well... if you promise you'll look after me.

-------------------------------

Willow was flirting, but it might be reaching to say that the dorm "put Tara and Willow first together". Tara was obviously interested in Willow from the start and was the aggressor in her own timid way.

-----------------------------------

#069 The I in Team (five episodes before "Wild Things')

Willow: Tara, it's not like I don't want my friends to know you. It's just... well, Buffy's like my best friend, and she's really special. And there's this whole bunch of us, and we sort of have this group thing that revolves around the slaying, and-and I, I really want you to meet them. But I kind of like having something that's just, you know, mine. And I, I usually don't use so many words to say stuff that little, but do you get that at all?

Tara: I do.

Willow: I should check in with Giles, get a situation update.

Tara: I am, you know.

Willow: What?

Tara: Yours.

------------------------------

So, I think their relationship was pretty much in progress by the time of "Wild Things", which is why Willow was keeping Tara a secret from the others. But perhaps Willow was inspired to flirt by the dorm house's influence. Tara was obviously affected since she reacted with a strong sense of horror and disgust.

can we please not let it get personal gents. I agree about threads getting off-topic, it's not good generally.

Me? well um I was on the edge of my seat like I usually am when I watch Buffy. you know the adrenaline rush I get just watching the show is sometimes amazing. I thought it was interesting how they didn't know what was going on around them the whole time they were "at it" so to say.

I'm pretty sure Obcooke didn't take it into offence and he took the advice, there's no hard feelings.

I don't think Tara really 'loved' Willow until later on in the relationship. I think it was probably because Willow was the only one in a long while to teat he nicely and as a normal human being.

I know this discussion is over but i would like 2 point out that part of what makes most of these threads so long lasting is because we go off topic which brings up new topics which we discuss and then we change again. You'll rarely find one topic spoken about for so long on one thread unless of course 'chocolate' has something 2 do with it!:D

The point is that part of the fun of ascifi is free speech, if we were chained to the topic title, there would most likely be a lot more threads with very little reading material!

Actually, since Markpud asked, I just decided to ignore the side comments and stick to the topic. I'm more interested in unique ideas and theories than I am in personal stuff here.

We all sometimes stray, like I'm doing now. But it only causes confusion when discussions have no relationship to the topic. Several times I've wanted to comment on something later, but couldn't find it, because I didn't want to search every thread trying to find the misplaced topic.

I stand by my earlier comment: "It's rude to the rest of us not to start a new topic if you want to change the subject or start a private conversation."

Now, HOPEFULLY, back to our regularly scheduled topic.

Actually I find it really easy to find what I'm looking to talk about on Ascifi.

Anyway...Do you think Tara turned gay because Willow was the first one (apart from her family) to treat Tara like a nice normal human being instead of treating her like a vegetable?

Sorry had to make a comment

Of course Choclate...;):D I have to agree with you on this whole thing.

Okay back to what Vampyre said... Hmmm You think Tara didn't really love Willow at first sight sorta thing? I thought it was like a special connection right away.
