Highlander

peachy...did you find the places where they filmed Conner and Heathers life and that stone building that Ramirez & Kurgen destroyed in their battle?? And the place where Conners sword is buired in the ground to mark Heather's grave??

I wonder if it's still there?? ;)

david...sounds interesting...Queen have so much good music, they could do musicals and performances of Qeen stuff all year round :D

hi markpud, the whole village was there, from when he was mortal, and the one that ramirez destroyed, it looked so real, till you went up close to it. i think it will be long gone now, that was going back years...peachy

The castle was an actual castle and when you watch them all walk across the bridge heading off into battle, underneath and surrounding that was the parking lot for the visitors. They covered it up with dirt, water, etc. for the show. Can you imagine trying to clean that up afterwards? ;)

Cheers,

cool, thanx for the info :D I would love to mooch up north on of these days and find the places myself...

Well when you do, take pictures. I'd like to see them. The area up there looks so fantastically beautiful. Maybe it's the Scots in me. ;)

Cheers,

yeah I agree, I love the countryside and the open air...so peaceful (except for the sound of animals being slaughtered for foot & mouth disease ;) (sorry  ))

But i'm definitely a city person, I live 10 mins fro mthe centre of Manchester, and I love it, everythings so convenient... I suppose I could cope with living out in the sticks as long as I have mobile phone coverage, a good net connection and Tesco will deliver :D:D

i agree, it does look beautiful, but i like living near the town/city. Glasgow is just 1/2hr away on the train. very handy for clothes shops, especially when your going out and you have absolutly nothing to wear. (haha)...peachy

I think Highlander was a magical film, it sent me back in Scottish history where most of the clans were united and were happy with what they had.

starling :smiliea:

well apart from the clan battles that were the reason Conner found out he was immortal in the first place ;)

When was this. The Clans were always fighting. The conflicts were usually the result of English interference in the Scottish Monarchy or political system, but the loss of life was almost totally Scottish. The death toll on the battlefield at Culloden in 1746 is completely beyond belief. Most of the young men in the Highlands were killed. It would only compare to The First World War.

By the way, I believe that my ancestors would have been on the side of the Bonnie Prince Charlie. My wife's ancestors are most likely to have been with the Duke of Cumberland.

you've got me wrong david676, i was talking about the film "Highlander" and when it was set, at the time Duncan McLeod was born...that was many years before Culloden.

starling :D :p ;)

DOH!

What does IIRC mean...i totally lost!:D

My goa-uld symbiote *Sid the Snake* had taken me over...where were we again? :erm: :gaptooth: Ah yeah, i liked that film Highlander...;) ;)

starling :) :) :)

Yes, talk English Mudpack. What does IMOH mean as well?

Sorry, I don't know when 'Highlander' was set, there may have been a time when Clans were not constantly in skirmishes, and I didn't mean to start a clan-war here either. But I do think that some romantic idea of peace-loving people co-existing in a paradise on the hills and valleys of Scotland, is probably not the way that it was.

definitely the best of the Highlander films -- especially if you've seen the Director's Cut that puts back all the scenes that help the movie make sense --- (i hate it when they think they have to cut stuff for the states - the ppl here are always that ridiculous)

and one of the greatest things about this movie -it's not based on anything - it was Widen's graduate 'thesis'-like project at UCLA (read that somewhere) -- it's all his baby!

Highlander II

i think that we do get a better deal here in the Uk with the cuts of a few films, the Highlander i've seen any/every time is what u consider the directors cut...

I totally agree about this one being the best of the lot...
