Set before H-II, some immortals were buried, and when they are freed, they set out ot find the only other immortal, Conner McLeod. But one of them has the magical powers of the sorcerer Nakano...

This film is much better than H-II, and captures some of the romance of the original.

http://us.imdb.com/Title?0110027 -

In feudal Japan, Connor McLeod, the immortal highlander, seeks out an immortal master of illusion in order to learn the magician's art. He is unknowingly followed by an evil immortal, Kane, who want Connor's head. They fight and Connor gets away while Kane is trapped in a cave. Now in the present Connor's peace is destroyed once again as the evil Kane is released from his imprisonment and the struggle of the Gathering begins again. Using Connor's loved ones and his acquired powers of illusion, Kane lures Connor in for a fight where there can be only one winner.

Side note:

Mario Van Peebles and Christophe Lambert also starred together in a movie called "Gunmen". There is a scene at the very end of this show where Peebles is standing over Lambert with a machete in his hand looking as though he is going to cut off Lambert's head. A couple of eye twinkles and the scene passes when Peebles lowers the machete to cut a rope instead.

Favorite scene from Highlander 3: When Connor is in the laundry room of the hospital hiding from the immortal who is chasing him. The choreography is so well done and when Connor says "You've already lost." you know what he's going to do and how he's going to do it.

Cheers,

hi!

have to say that i was less than thrilled with this movie. the plot was lacking and it didn't seem as true to the original to me. i didn't like the fact that connor had a kid - that just didn't seem to fit -- (i know he had said he wanted children in the 1st one, but i think that 400 years later, he would have changed his mind considering everything he's been through)

however - the special effects were pretty good -- that was the redeeming factor for this film --

Later!!
Highlander II

i prefer this to the 2nd one, it is a better sequel in my opinion.. yes the effects are nice as well :D

i just didn't like the storyline they wrote for Connor -- it just didn't work for me ---

but, i can live with it ---

H2

i dunno.. i like that he had tried to get back to a normal life, with the game over and all...and a kid would be the one thing he'd never had, so why not...

perhaps -- but i didn't understand why he moved to morroco or a lot of things -- they didn't explain enough from the end of the 1st movie to the beginning of the 3rd -- and they just randomly killed off Brenda so that Connor could do what he wanted - but he never mentions her - really -- just bad 'connectivity' -- it didn't 'connect' well for me -- toooooo many unanswered questions for my liking --

H2

they did mention her in HII, in the cut i saw anyway... but i guess it was a bit of a jump, but it was also 10(?) years later, so a lot could have happened...

Brenda is mentioned in both H2 and H3 -- in H2 she dies of skin cancer -- in H3 supposedly she and Connor were in a car accident and drove off a bridge (i think) -- but it still isn't dealt w/ properly -- if she's dead - Connor's gonna have to deal with it -- he's not that unemotional -- and there's only the passing reference that Brenda and Connor were married in H3 (i think - gotta watch again) -- it just irks me that writers don't pay attn to the details that the fans will definitely pick up on - haven't they learned after all these years???? or do they put the indiscrepancies in on purpose just so we have to deal with them??? (that's really mean if they do)

H2

i remember seeing the cop guy saying to his colleague that Conner and Heather were in a car crash, he walked away (of course) and i though he said that she was dead.. cant remember if it was II or III though, i guess i'll have to re-watch them both..

it's III --

Brenda dies from skin cancer in II --

crappy storyline either way -- ugh --

i actually like it in some ways because it goes to show that even after survivign the gathering (will the '84 gathering anyway ;)) that Conner's life doesnt get easier. He allowed himself to fall in love, and she was taken away from him...
would have been better if they'd dealt with it in II or III (or even IV), for some closure..

yes - they have this nasty habit of not dealing w/ "BIG" things like loved ones dying and such --

it is kinda dealth w/ in II - when he remembers her dying - but III - it's just mentioned in passing - so it doesn't make sense -- and in III - she's only dead b/c they needed Connor to be free to sleep w/ the chic in the movie -- that's the only reason Brenda's dead -- it's kinda stupid --

aye - that they do -- however, they seem to fail to realize that fans and viewers catch the crazy stuff they think isn't 'important' --

to quote Byron from the series -- "Life...is in the details!"

details are very important ----

i like the third movie, mostly because of the effects. they were great. the plot looked over a lot of details, as H2 has said, and they were big ones. so that bugged me, but i recently bought the movie and it kinda grows on you, after a few times i was thinking it was okay.

H3 - well - the effects are the only thing that saved this movie from being total crap - the story line is dumb - Connor w/ a kid? um - hello -- esp w/o a wife? that's not like Connor --- i understand the kid thing - but Brenda's hardly mentioned - she was important to him - much like Heather -- but all they say is that she was killed in a car accident? um - duh -- what a cop out ---

anyway -- there were a couple 'high' points -- the immies being buried in the mountain for 400 years - at least THIS part made sense -- instead of that 'immies are from another planet' thing they tried to pull in HL2

and learning a little about Connor's past - the Japanese guy who taught him some fighting ---

if you're ever seen The Hunted - there's a similar type scene in that movie too - kinda funny!!

yeah...I actually liked this one better than the second movie...it made more sense all around than that one. I also don't see Connor with a kid...even an adopted one..I wouldn't think he would want to put him in danger..and since immortals..especially Highlanders are danger magnets....

too true Dia -- Highlanders seem to attract the attention of bad elements ---

and - i don't see Connor w/ a kid either --- it's just - weird --

it was set after he'd won the prize though wasn't it (depending on your canon of course), so he figured that there wouldn't be any more immie trouble, so having the one thing he could never previously have; a family, could have been appealing to him.
I agree about the no wife bit though...
