Highlander - EndGame

i'm sorry, but i think Methos would have stepped in there, he seems like the type of person who would have stopped Duncan from doing something that he would regret for the rest of his life. that might sound a little off the wall, but i think Duncan will regret it for a very long time, because connor was like a brother to him, his teacher. methos might seem like he is appathetic about thw hole thing..... but he does care about duncan and i think he cares about connor as well, so he wouldn't have let it happen.

oh my god!! i just wrote a scene that did exactly that ----

i won't say specifics -- but i'm rewriting bits of Endgame (b/c it sucked) and Methos stops Connor and Duncan --

yes yes yes --i'll post it at MacSlow when i'm done -- whenever that is ---- don't worry -----

Connor forever!!!!!

Why Killing Connor was a really BAD idea!

Yeah - like i have to explain that one -- but anyway --

Connor dead = BAD! :dead:

so - I'm sure i've made this point before -but killing Connor to 'move the film along' was just stupid - it didn't move the film, in my opinion, nothing of any significance happened from the time Connor locked Duncan in that 'you can't lose' position (that thing w/ the sword behind his head)

1st - I don't think Connor would ever ask anyone to take his head. why? it's not in his character - but i think the writers fell asleep the day characterization was taught in writing class. and Panzer must have been dead the day they taught 'paying attention to the *ACTUAL* wants/needs of the fans' -- but he was definitely present for 'how to be an arrogant ass 101' --

2nd - Duncan wouldn't kill Connor anyway -- even if he was desperate - it's not in HIS character either -- DUH and this is Panzer's pet character! what was he thinking? Oh, right - he WASN'T!!!

ack! if i keep going i'm gonna be really mad -- so, i think i'll stop now!

Yeah...asking someone to take his head is way off for Connor...I know he was all upset because he said that everyone close to him ends up dead and all that...but that is still a stretch in my opinion. And to ask Duncan to do it was really bad...after all Dunkie has been through with Richie (which didn't really happen) I would think that he would ask someone else.

well - for some reason -- the thing about Connor being all 'distraught' over people in his life being killed or dying -- brings up 'why the heck did they kill Rachel' --- was a lot off for his character - he was tauted as something of a 'tough guy' in the 1st movie - so, 'death' wouldn't bother him that much, esp considering the life he has -- all immortals must face death and cope with it or they will be destroyed by all of the 'depression' (not really the right word, but i can't think of anything better at the moment) ---

if death got to immies like it 'supposedly' got to Connor (remember, Endgame didn't happen either!) then Methos would be an absolute wreck -- 5000 of death and destruction? he'd be loopy! but he's not, why? b/c he's strong and deals with -
so does Connor - well - per the 1st movie anyway - he did grieve for Heather - but didn't dwell on it --- same in HLII - he was grieving for Brenda, but also said he was glad she wasn't around to see the mess the planet was ---

okay - back to Rachel -- that poor woman - why did they kill her? oh right - to make Connor depressed and send him into hiding so that when he got out he'd want Duncan to kill him -- >: | stupid PTB wouldn't know a good idea if it walked up and smacked 'em -- killing Rachel had no real significance whatsoever EXCEPT to irritate Connor - and ya know what - he would have hunted whomever was responsible and killed him/her - not run into hiding --- someone needs to look up the Connor MacLeod Characterization encyclopedia and make sure they get him right next time! oh -there SO better be a next time!!

I know...Connor was a strong individual...just because he felt guilty about what happened with Kell and because of Rachel was no reason for him to just up and decide to die.

Any movie after the origional must be taken with a grain of salt, as they all contradict the origional in some way or another. Hell, the very existance of any sequals at all contradicts the origional movie.

I look at each movie as a self-sustaining story, and not part of anything larger. If you only want a movie that fits in perfectly, you'll be disapointed every time.

too true ---

however - some fans have 'explained' around some of the discrepancies and allowed the pieces to meld --

the only thing that makes absolutely NO sense - is Connor wanting to kill himself ---- it just doesn't fit his character --

no it doesn't....but I've noticed that whatever fits thier concept of a story is just integrated into a character so everything fits. It's annoying as hell. :(

that is the ultimate in understatements --- unfortunately, it's also true ---

stupid PTB who refuse to abide by a character's character!!

okay - more on Endgame ----

no - i haven't watched it again -- probably never will - just can't sit through it again

i tried to watch it to get a question to stump you in the quiz thread of HL, i could not torture myself, i get enough of that at work

i thank you kindly --

i actually got the DVD in the mail yesterday - (freebie for joining Columbia House) - it's still in the plastic! nope - haven't taken it off! took the plastic off all the others, but not that one -- stupid movie ---

well - i think that even if they were to fight (which they wouldn't) - Methos and Joe would have intervened - hello - FRIENDS! would your friends leave you to kill a relative?

like i said - stupid movie

ya know - it's been 2 months - and Endgame STILL has the plastic on it!

Just in case anyone has any doubts - the plastic is *still* on my Endgame DVD - I stand fast in my belief that Endgame never happened and Connor is alive and well and loving whatever it is he is doing!
