Season 6 and the meaning of stargate

does anyone know if they're gunna film the 6th season? or if there's gunna be a 6th season? last time i heard the cast and crew were on strike, is this true? are they making another film? is there gunna be a 7th season? will the quality of season5 episodes drop due to the strike?
argggghh...this lack of knowledge is killing me! can someone please fill me in? tell me everything i need to know and more!

oh, about the meaning of stargate stuff, i'm not really complaining but just kinda worried. ok, the series is called starGATE SG-1, i've noticed that in the latter seasons, they have reduced the use of the actual gate, and have started to use spaceships and transport rings and everything other than the gate!!!! they're currently on the 4th season, and filming the 5th, if they struggle to make use of the gate, then how the hell are they gunna have the series go on any longer? again, i'm not complaining, im just a worried fan! to me, Stargate SG-1 has kinda lost it's meaning, now i know they use the gate in season 4, i know they use the gate in all the seasons, but they've reduced the use of it, like in season3's fair game, they use the asgard transport thingy quite a lot. and in season3's legacy, you don't even see the gate once!!!!!! (i dont think you do anyway)

so what's your take on all this?

aaarrrrrgggg.... U've got me worried now! Wot strike?!?! Dunno NE thing about series 6 or 7, but they R making a second film defo. As 4 the meaning of gate stuff, I reckon they probs just used starGATE just 'cos it woz the name of the film.

True, true. What sense would it make just called 'SG-1'?

I think that the Gate business is the whole meaning of the SGC, and SG-1 itself. I'm not going to quote the exact mission of the SG team members, but the point is exploration, which leads to discovery, good or bad. In series 3 and 4 (not that I've seen it) it sounds to me as if we, the 'mostly harmless' Tau'ri, who haven't had much to do with interstellar politics and wars and so on (Goa'uld and otherwise) might just be finding out the consequences of their actions.
Even as early as S2's '1 False Step' we were seeing that no race embarking on galactic exploration with motives such as ours can get away with 'trampling through the galaxy' without there being some repercussions. I say 'motives such as ours' in the context that races like the Goa'uld go about their business slightly differently.

I heard about the strike, too, but I hope it will have no big consequences on filming season 5...
And I think it's pretty sure that there will be a movie after season five...
