Okay, that's a pretty good explanation.

But it looked like Zack backed away from everyone while he had the gun held to his head; who could move as fast as an X-5 to stop him? And the doctors and staff all looked to scared and surprised to have made such a bold move.

So I guess there were a total of 7 X-5s that escaped: Ben, Tenga, Bret (sp?), Max, Zack, and the two new faces whose names I don't remember.
 
Remember there were a couple of guards behind Zack and Madam X. Zack wasn't paying much attention to what was going on behind him, he wasn't thinking clearly. At that point in time he was in a moment of weakness. Anyone of the gaurds or Madam X could have shot him with a tranq. or zapped him in the back!!

Syl, Kirt, Jace and Johndy have also excaped!

I only remembered just now hearing those names mentioned once in an episode months back.
I suppose a guard COULD have given him a tranquilizer, but that would require me to stretch my imagination a little too far. But you do have a point; they DIDN'T show what happened, only that he fell forward. So that explanation is a plausible twist in the plot that most viewers wouldn't expect. Hmmm... very interesting.

I really hope zack didn't die. I mean he was like an important storyline, and i was just starting to really like his character. Felt bad for logan and max!!!!!!:(

he obviously isnt dead-i mena he is teh one person who can come between max and logan if something does happen between them---you know love triangle theory here..............:eek: RoXy

I still think he's dead. And quite frankly his military outlook on everything in life after all those years of escaping from Manticore didn't seem to indicate he was a man open to change. He and Max would not have worked out. He clung to the very way of life Max tried her best to leave behind.

In all odds you might be right, I remember reading somewhere that WGL was on the cast list for next season though.
You do have a good point about Zack being stuck in his ways; however, I have to disagree with you on that fact that you think he wouldn't change. In my eyes, Zack has already changed. He attemped to/or really did, kill him self. If he was so set in his Manticore ways, then he wouldn't have allowed his emotions to get in his way of survival.
