Season 6 Email Campaign

I just read the script from a RDA online chat, and according to him, he is ready to do a sixth season if only MGM would give the 'go ahead.'

Does anyone know the address, or the link where we (the fans) could write to????

HELP! Kree!! :rolly2:

the form is here:
http://www.mgm.com/cgi-bin/c2k/help.html

if someone wants to write a draft email, with as many references in it and evidence of the popularity of the show then i will set up a system here where people can type in their email address and it will email mgm a copy from everyone. might help get their attention?

sent them a message...one hint, please don't use the net shorthand in this...it's likely to look like gibberish to them. pull out those old grammar books and do it right.

also, don't yell, scream or threaten...the folks that are gonna read these are likely some guy's secretary (believe me i've been yelled at a time or two by viewers for something the net does...ain't my fault)

skydiver, do you have the email you sent? perhaps people can use it as a template.

RDA also asked for e-mails and letters to be sent in. We have to keep them polite and somewhat formal because remember that RDA is a child of two teachers and his English is impeccable (Loved the correction in 2010) and as fans we should show we appreciate that!:rolly2:

Snail Mail AND Email please

Write snail mail letters AND email, folks!! Snail mail is often taken more seriously, and it's being said that 1 snail mail letter is viewed to represent b/n 50 and 100 viewers. And don't delay. According to the transcript, a decision might be as close as next week!

It was something like this

Dear MGM,

I wanted to take a moment to thank you for producing the show Stargate SG-1. I enjoy it immensely and it's a must see every week, even the re-runs.
I've heard the decision on season 6 has yet to be made and I would like to encourage you to renew it.
Stargate is a witty, funny and intelligent show and amongst the best Sci-fi shows on the air.

Thank you for your time and please renew Stargate SG-1 for a sixth season.

Sincerely

i sent quite a few e-mails, but the only thing im worried about is MGM could filter out all these e-mails (somehow) and not pay any attention to the fans! i sent a REALLY long and convincing e-mail, but they might not get it...
and my other worry is that i've heard that MS might not be up to a S6, he's definitely up for a film..but i heard he might not want to continue with a s6 cos he thinks he's done enuff with the character of daniel. if MS doesnt sign, then the others might not and MGM might not allow a S6 cos a main character is missing. if MS doesnt sign for s6, then the 6th season might not be a reality any more...:(

a few more addresses - drop a postcard off to each of them. let's bury them in mail!

don't know howmany of you get showtime and i didn't watch it last night but according to what i've heard they played a promo for the new season and tagged it with 'watch the final season of stargate sg-1'

now there could be two explanations for this.

1) mgm has yet to say yes and they tagged it incorrectly

2) there is a rumor of a movie to be filmed between seaon 5 & 6...it's POSSIBLE that stargate sg-1 will end, the movie will air and another series will pick up the storyline...i'm just saying possible here because i know no more than this.
however, there is the fact that rda did say in the chat he'd like to do season 6, stargate finished 5th in syndicated ratings(which is not bad at all), and the general public is just starting to know that there is a show called stargate sg-1...

this announcement has not been backed up in any way. there is supposedly nothing on the showtime or mgm site nor has anyone passed on a 'official' announcement from mallozzi or anyone 'in the know' of the show.

sucky news i know but if anyone has a yen to pick up a pen and paper now's the time...even if they don't change their minds they'll know what a mistake they're making.

and i for one think it would be great if, after season 5 ends if it does, everyone who has showtime just to see stargate cancells their subscription...hit em where they pay attention to...their wallets.

y'all in the states recall jag? nbc aired it for a year then canned it, cbs picked it up adn it's been in the top 20 ever since...nbc messed up.

networks do make mistakes...

I saw the promo....

Last night, after running the end credits, Showtime showed a promo for the next season.

This is what it said:

"Four years ago, we unlocked the gate...and took you to places you never dreamed of...

Now join O'Neill, Carter, Teal'c and Jackson in their greatest adventures ever.

Stargate SG-1, The Final Season preimeiring Friday June 29 on Showtime."

I had posted a thread in the Season 5 section, because I had no idea they were so serious about this season being the last....:(

Yahoo Group for saving Stargate

I just got this through one of my mailing list. Apparently there's been a list setup through yahoo groups to save SG1 from cancellation.

Here the site addy and the email addy to sign up for the group:
http://groups.yahoo.com/group/saveSG1 &
saveSG1-subscribe@yahoogroups.com

I figure it's worth a shot. I mean, hell if Roswell can be resurrected from the cancellation graveyard, then I'm pretty sure Stargate can be saved before it even has a chance to be fitted for a coffin.

It ain't over 'til the fat lady sings....

That's right folks! No defeatest attitudes allowed! There are a ton of fans on this net! If we all sent a letter, that could have a huge impact on some decision makers!

the e-mails certainly can't hurt. there are two other ideas floating around, all speculation

it is a fact that in a recent chat rda said he was all for season 6 but was just waiting on mgm to make the decision.
however i had heard years ago that all 4 principal cast members were only signed to an initial 5 year contract, which would of course end at the end of season 5
there is also the much rumored movie but no official announcement from mgm
and the rumor that mgm wishes to start their own network like paramount and others...

this leads me to 3 possible conclusions.

1) the promo is wrong, and season 6 will be announced soon

2) stargate sg-1 will end at season 5, there will be a theartical movie shot at the end of season 5 that should air nov 2002 or so then another series will begin june 2002 likely with another name continuing the general thread but like trek with several series in the same general universe

3) season 5 will be the last on showtime, season 6 will premiere on mgm's channel next year...

now all of this is rampant speculation, maybe the show is going to die, but given the fact that it's fifth in the syndi ratings, due to go to sci-fi with the 2002 season, up for leo & saturn awards..i just can't see them totally abandoning it just as it's building up steam. methink mechaniations are afoot of the corporate type and there will be some announcement soon as to what their plans are.

now if they do totally cancel it...it just confirms my belife that intelligence is not required to be a network executive.

write a letter, win a prize!!!

yuma posted this on the lists and gave permission to pass it on so:

Hello everyone,

One of our staff members over at StargateFan had offered a wonderful idea for
a letter campaign and I decided to run with it.

If you hadn't heard by now, Showtime had been running promo clips, labeling
fifth season as the last one. Many of us would like to see a sixth season,
right? Now, wouldn't it be worth just a wee bit of time to write a letter
telling them just that?

I know writing letters can be a pain, but they are also more memorable and
IMPACTFUL than email through addresses where we don't know where they would
be going.

Write a letter, let them know how much we love this show. They need to know
there ARE fans out there!

Now, the idea from Gary is for each letter you send, make a copy of it and
send to me. I'll put them in a drawing. We're currenly already holding a
contest, but we'll run a special one for this letter campaign, too!

**For EVERY letter you write to Showtime, MGM or to Stargate SG-1 productions
qualifies you at our weekly drawing**
Prizes include photos, promo cards, DVDs, or a free fanzine from Pyramids
Press. Gary is coming up with a few more prizes which we'll include as well.

Doesn't matter if you're from the US, Europe or Australia. Send a letter,
mail me a copy and I'll pay the expense of shipping to you should you win!
That's all, nothing complicated. =)

**For MGM addresses to mail letters AND my address to mail your proofs, you
can go here:
http://www.stargatefan.com/catalog/index2.html**

Please feel free to pass this along other list groups or newgroups. This
contest runs til we run out of prizes even if MGM makes some sort of press
release. It's NOT too late no matter WHAT we hear! Now's the time to act,
folks. =) Wish us all luck and let's hope for a sixth season!

Sincerely,
Yum@ =)

Well, I guess I better get the ole writing hand limbered up, ah?:D

Many thanks for the addresses and links, guys. I put them to our czech website and a diskussion forum.
I really hope that there will be at least season 6.

I am with skydiver and not overtly concerned at this point. Personally i don't like the idea of number 2 and can only really see it happening if 2 of the major actors don't return, i think the show could survive with 1 major character leaving but possibly not 2.

here's what ive been hearing from my own sources:
1. 3 members of the cast aren't up to another season
2. MGM will announce the future of SG on wednesday
3. CJ and RDA are definitely up for a S6
4. MS might not want too continue his role (but i think this rumour has passed)
5. there contracts actually ended after 4 seasons, but they all signed up for another one (S5) althought it did take a lot of convincing to get CJ to sign for S5, but now he's in. There's no saying that the cast cant sign for another season, CJ is with the idea now.
6. i think the 2nd movie has been announced (if not, then im sorry) and shooting should begin in october
7. if ur talkin about the promo on showtime for s5 saying that its the last season, they're only saying that cos of the contract thing and theres no official word from MGM yet

thats most of what i know, ive probably forgotten sumthing...but there u go
