Does ANYONE know where a person can find the jackets the teams wear on most missions (The olive drab cross between a flight jacket and a field jacket with the knit collar?) I've looked all over and haven't found anything even close!

Thanks in advance for any info...

I haven't seen the jackets either. But I did get both the t-shirts, a sweatshirt and cd case, from mgm.com.

Keep looking! But sometimes you can find things over at ebay... the auction house.

Uniform jackets

If you live in the US or Canada, you can find them at most military surplus stores [not the on-line ones, the ones you walk into]. They're the old style Air Force Pilot jackets and they turn up every now and again.

The big advantage with a show like 'Stargate' is, just about any piece of military uniform is acceptable, as long as you wear the right pieces with the other right pieces [don't wear a desert camo pain of pants with a woodland camo shirt]. If you wander about any military base - well... except the Navy, they're a bit more porganized in the uniform department - you'll see mechanic's and flight coveralls, BDU's, class B and A uniforms [A's are the more formal usually with a jacket on]... a bunch of stuff.

If you want ideas, web search any of the US military web sites and look at the pictures. That'll give you a start.

BTW: The 'blue' uniforms they wear on occosion are navy blue BDU's that have been washed several times until they fade out slightly.;)

you're always great with info. Rowan, thanx.

Info source

Hey... I've lived in military clothes almost half of my life. If you want off-the-wall medical info, I can tell you that OB delivery forceps make great salad tongs.....;)

hmmm, it must be a real interesting...frightning...experiance having dinner over at your house.

Not always. Usually, if you don't know what they really are, they just look like something odd you bought at IKEA!;)

Oh Yes. At the reception for my second wedding [which was held in the chapel of the Military hospital where my husband and I worked] only the folks from the OR knew that our 'cake knife' was the Lister Amputation Knife that could be found in one of the orthopedic sets with a piece of trachaeostomy tape tying a sprig of juniper on it.

It's okay... the knife had been out of service for several years and was used in the OR lounge as a general 'cut anything' knife. :p

I am glad that you printed the last part with your story.... I never would have to gumption to eat at your house otherwise!:rolly2:

Health care and the military teach you to be versitile, if nothing else. ;)

I don't suppose you use a bed pan to set jello...

After sterilization it could make for an interesting converastional jello mold!:D

Jello

Nope... too hard for the jello to come out well molded. The *do* make great potato chip and snack holders, though... ;)

hee hee, I'm sure you'd have lot's of left overs..."pst stear clear of the snack, uh, dish".

G-8 (WEP) Flight Jacket

The olive drab jacket they wear on Stargate SG-1 is the G-8(WEP) Flight Jacket.
The Navy designed the G-8 (WEP) as a survival suit (poopy suit) liner, but Naval Aviators wore it as a jacket from its introduction in the 1950’s until it was discontinued in the 1980’s. The unique pullout action back and sleeves made it extremely comfortable in cramped cockpits and in the ready room. The Navy no longer issues it.
Only the G8 (Wep) jacket has the original deep-cut knit cuffs and special bi-swing back. It has two cargo chest pockets, a pencil pocket, and a sleeve pocket. The storm flap behind the solid brass front zipper keeps the cold wind out. Olive Green in color.

:rolly2: Where did I find it?

Well I told you once I am a military enthusists. Got a marine inside wanting to get out. I'm in Law Enforcement at the present time. I sometimes wish I would have enlisted back out of high school when I had the chance. I'm almost 30 now...too late.

Anyways, I found the jacket in a flight gear catalog. It is going for $96 plus shipping. (i beleive $6.96 s/h). I did hours of internet research just to find the name of the Jakcet. I dont remember where I found that information. Then it took more hours of intertnet research to find a place to order it. I'm sure you can find them in a good military surplus store but have found none online. I only found a place to by them new. I will have to get back to you on the address on where to order the jacket.

I havent bought mine yet but will in the next few weeks. Working on putting my SG uniform together.
