Hi Kalavera. You know you can always join the Reserves. They'll take recruits up to 35 or 36 years of age. I also wish I'd joined the Air Force when I had the chance. I went to Great Adventures Amusement Park on the day I should have been taking the test. Never worked up the interest to reschedule. Oh well. In my next life I'll be more proactive. :smilej:

that's what happened to me when I work civilian at a military hosp. and was also a reservist. My one weekend off I was back in the shop in a different uniform.
I immediately retrained in another medical field.

this looks to be worn, used stuff. the enlarged picture shows damage in the cuff ribbing. the replica leather jackets go for $300 and above.
But I find it absoultely facinating that on that page is examples of looks done for the show. Blues and greens alike.
And top most that G-8 jacket that we've seen week in and week out.

OK, I need some information.
I'll tell you guys where to find a new G-8 WEP Jacket for $96 (plus shipping) and in return I would like some help completing this SG Team designation list.
Ok so this is a list of the SG Team designations I have found so far. Does anyone have any corrections or additions?

I have patches on order, I have my MP5 coming in the mail (decided to stick with the MP5 instead of the new P90 because easier to find, cheaper and I like the look of the mp5), have my olive drab BDU pants, and Boonie hat, Hi-Tek Magnum Boots, Blackhawk Tac Vest, thigh holster and pouches, and am about to order my G-8 WEP Jacket next payday.

Uh... Kal... you're not planing to bring the weapons to GateCon, are you? That is a total not okay. Between Canadian laws regarding civilians with weapons [even if they are only AirSoft or the like] and the fact that the professional security service that takes care of the actors, the Con can't allow *anything* that looks at all like a real weapon in the area. Goa'uld fakes and stuff are okay... but not anything else.

Nah, what I mean is that in my fic the group I assembled as SG-8 was not a medical group and was not on any sort of medical mission, so it would clash with what we know about the list of SG teams.
I imply the team was new, and in a later fic they only had twelve missions as a team before the events in the first fic broke up the team. I'm trying to mean that it be a better idea to have them to have been SG-15 instead of SG-8. Nothing is set about the higher SG team numbers. While we already assume that SG-8 and SG-3 work in tandem.

Did you get your list from the show? www.stargatesg-1.com has a Team List also {in CAPS} which does not correspond to yours. Who's is the right one? Have the TV designations changed since S1?

GateCon and weapons restrictions
Anything 'alien' is okay: ribbon devices, zats, staff, even stuff you make up. If it even remotely silhouettes as a 'real' we-have-then-now weapon, that's out. Even if you took the handle of a mil issue K-Bar and just glued it to the scabbard.
Had one incident last year where even after making these guidelines announced, one person was caught wandering through the large registration area with a 'MP-5'. One of our seciruty guys and I were in flight toward him before we even realised it. [Both of us ex-mil]. We got to him before the proff. security did [there were no actors areound at the time, so the pros weren't], escorted him out the back and 'explained' to him he could be arrested for 'brandishing' [showing a illegal weapon] in Canada with just that. It went back to his room and we were all happy.
If there had been a proff. security person in the room, it might have been more interesting. Canadian gun laws are very strict and our proff. security take their jobs very seriously, as well they should.

I have no problem with that, Skoon. You've also got a pretty effective country and province wide law enforcement system.
Down here, things change literally from town to town and block to block.
2 houses in a two block radius got gang tagged last week. Our two cars were totaled by arson 2 months ago and three down the alley 2 weeks ago. We've got a 9mm gunshot hole in our garage wall from a drive by. I live in Tacoma in the north Hilltop area becasue that is what we can afford. Not the best part of twon, but not the worst.
My husband had two 'gentleman' come up to our car at an intersection in broad daylight on a weekday while he was waiting for the light to turn. When he politely said "no" to their offer to sell him some 'fine sh*t' for his weekend, one of them started to draw a revolver from a shoulder hostel. He replied by moving more rapidly that the young man [being SF/Airborne Army hepls] and laid his 45 on the window sill of the car door. Both gentlemen decided to be elsewhere. At the next corner, he called it into the police. He told me he a he was discribing the incident to the dispatcher, he could hear someone in the background say "Did he shoot the c**sucker?". When told "no", the other voice sighed loudly and muttered 'Damn.'.
That was all that happened. No way to track the two and the police here are spread too thin to really do much. Funding is poor.
I also carry if I'm out at night by myself or out driving by myself on trips longer than just to the store. I'm not making a blaket statement that everyone should carry. I'm trained and I practice at the range a lot. That sidearm will never be pulled except as a means of preventing the loss of a life: myself or some one elses. It's my karma and I will willing take the 'hit' should it come to that.
I've worn my country's unform for 20+ years and took up arms in her defense in foreign lands. It's more disturbing than I can say that I feel the need to do so here. But if my being armed and being in the right place at the right time can save me or some other person's life, then I do so.
I thank God there are saner countries and places then this. You are fortunate. I envy Canada at times.

Police in the UK don't carry guns unless they are a special unit or something. Instead they have those stupid club things and even now the police who carry guns might be made to carry tranquilisers instead after some guy was killed last week.
