Sam's Guyish hair cut.

Actually she could have long hair and put it up. I used to french plait mine and it stayed in forever. And I went on combat exercises and missions just like her. I even did a survival exercise for four days in the Welsh mountains sans comb, mirror or any other civilised implements. However, I did not look as perfectly made up as Sam does when she returns. I was dirty and stunk to high heaven, despite nearly giving myself a cardiac arrest bathing in water that had a crust of ice on it.

Texane, I am sorry I didn't reply to your kind email. I can't reply to it properly now because I got sent a Badtrans virus and have had to purge my computer system. Luckily my firewall prevented the virus from sending itself to everyone in my address book. It would not give the programme access and sent me an alert. But I lost your email among many others. Thanks for your kind thoughts!

The thought occurs though that AT herself obviously prefers short hair, and it does suit her. But she doesn't have a pixie face, nor is there anything cute or impish about her. In real life, she is actually a rather long and thin faced ordinary looking woman who you would pass by in the street and I stood facing her about a foot away as we were introduced by a common acquaintance at Wolf SG4. She was the only actor there that I actually met.

She is a consummate performer and was impressive on stage with a good rapport with an audience, but face to face, I wasn't overly impressed with her at all.

Carmen Arz-------------- (I can never get his last name right) - the actor who plays Jacob/Selmac - has been quoted as saying she has the talent of Meryl Streep. I think if AT was any more attractive, the "powers that be" might be concerned that female fans would not like her as well (not that it would be a reasonable issue).

I do think she does a good job on the show. (stunk to high heaven, huh? Sounds like you kicked a** and took names).

I think the Sam we've seen in POV, with long hair looks competely different, in fact, if I dare to stereotype, much more scholarly and less 'butch'. I agree that it's annoying how they never seem to get particularly dirty on missions, but I guess AT deiced that SC prefers short hair too. :p Maybe she looks sexier or something, with that short hair.

I was just razzing some of our members in another post . . . we have no problem with a Stargate, little gray men, or a weekly showing of Goa'uld Mardi Gras :alienooh: , but heaven help us if we violate the Rules and Regs! That just simply would not be believable! ;)

AT grew her hair out longer for a while (D&C). Supposedly she cut it shorter because someone walked by her and said it wasn't regulation.

i actually think that Sam looks stinning the way she is.......but she could use a comb in SOME eps....although chicks have their days....but i have mine EVERY day.....hee heee.....

another point is that she shouldn't have her pants way above her belly button. one ep i saw with those replicators she looked a bit retarded! no offence.

Um......Smee.....the military don't go a huge bundle for their female members showing large amounts of flesh. The uniform code doesn't allow for showing your belly button and Sam as a ranking officer would have to show some sort of decorum in the way she dresses as a civilian too!

I agree with you about the comb though, sometimes she looks exactly as though she just got out of bed with a serious bout of 'bed-head'. I think that the producers might be trying to promote the idea that she's a brilliant scientist type who doesn't care what she looks like physically.

;)

i wasn't exactly talking about flesh here. she can still tuck her shirt in......

Flesh or not.....military trousers are cut a certain way, they're not meant to be fashionable or hang around the hips. They're meant to be functional and allow room for movement..... I speak as a former soldier.

Military clothing is not designed to make you look good. It's not even designed to fit correctly. It's a one-style for all dress for people who are meant to be doing a very physical job.

If soldiers were meant to look glamorous they would get one of the Paris fashion houses to design the uniform.

And let us not forget one of their major features.

Unable to keep you warm in cold weather
Unable to keep you cool in warm weather

Yet the army surplus stores do great business.

Go figure

i guess i'm in the wrong here....been watching too many of those darn movies....LOL....very sorry if i dissed the army's dress codes! i'm now sure it's not an army for the miss britney spears...

On the topic of hair again, I like Sams hair short, its a bit too short in the Light and it looked absolutely awful in small victories and divide and conquer, all shaggy and greasy looking, but I reackon it looked nicer in season 3, point of view is a good ep showing this. I have to agree that her doubles hair in point of view look so funny, it was just....wrong, didn't even look like carter to me.

So I think she should grow her hair out to length it was in s3 and leave it like that, no longer!

 I agree with y'all. Some of the epys make Sam look as if she had, "been drug through a bush backward."

Could sitting at a desk all night and continually running your hand through your hair in frustration produce the same effect as that?

;) ;) ;) ;) ;)

That is a fairly common occurence,!
