Okay, i think in this section on seson 6, we should hav at least 1 thread related to season 6 so I'll start one for ya.
I seriously doubt there will be info on season 6 floating around already so we'll have to do with guesses and what we'd like to be shown in season 6.
For me it would have to be just lots of action, the action episodes are my favs, ones where the team work together to save the world, again!! Also I'd like to see more aliens we don't know, especially the furlings and the ancients, I'd really wanna see them, and if this is gonna be the lasst season, I think we should be able to see them at least once :D
What do all you gaters out there think?

Or, alternatively, if e.g. the Furlings are now extinct, some confirmation about it from say the Asgard.

I agree, some kick-bottom action with tons of action, perhaps with our guys and gals getting hold of some death-gliders or equivalent?

The only problem with "known" final series is they tend to try to answer all unanswered questions, and not always with the best thought out, or consistent answer. E.g. the Tauri are wow, descended from the Furlings, or something daft like that.

We've dealt with all the standard Sci-Fi cliches in the funny eps (invisible friends, time loops, duplicates and such). I'd like to see Sg-1 get shrunk!

I'm easy. I wanna see 22 brilliant, fabulous, terrific, wonderful, perfect episodes.

See, I don't ask for much.............

...which for means less politics and more missions.

I know it is MUCH cheaper to have them all stuffed round a table discussing stuff than firing up the gate, using their weapons, or, dare I say talking to Thor etc., but that is where the viewers want to be?

The Mystery and intrigue of the show has Vanished a bit. I would like to see more creepiness return to the TV Show. But there is only one thing that I ask of; Bring back the Morphing System Lord and Jaffa Helmets. Stargate isn't Stargate without them. And lets bring out the big thingy with the ball again. The Teleball thingy. And lets have some more of Major Griff, quite Arguably the best minor part SGC personell character to be brought in since Colonel Makepeace.

Indiana....... dearest boy, how are you?

Still preaching the gospel, like me I see!!!!

I don't think anyone'll listen though.....

Bring back the creepiness....... the menace..... the hair standing up on the back of the neck ambience!!!!

Anni aka Titan!

 ;) :D

Yeah Anni. No one ever seems to listen when Mystery and Intrigue or even menacing Sysytem Lords are mentione, but when you mention sexy Tok'Ra or Jack and Sam/Janet and George/Daniel and Teal'C relationships (the last two were a joke) peeps are all ears.

I was thinking, hmm...who's Anni? But it's you titan. I never even clicked at your signature, Anni aka Titan. I only realised when I saw that you said on your little note thingy says, "Chronus' love slave"

Yes, it's me! I get all over the place don't I?

:D

I knew you would get it when you saw my avatar!

In answer to your previous comment, you're right.... And I still feel that the show has progressed to the point where everyone is actually MISSING the point of the original concept and I often wonder if that's why Emmerich and Co are so anti the series. It's really just a showcase for RDA....and probably always has been, considering his administrative involvement with the show!

Oh well..... another good concept down the drain!

:(

Well It is still my favourite show ever.

Although I do agree that menace has been washed away ever so slightly I do still hold Stargate as one of my best shows. There are not too many that i really like apart from Stargate and maybae Dark Angel. Water Rats is Ace, but thats an Aussie Cop show and I have only seen two seasons.

I guess you also noticed my name and my Avatar and sig and caught on that it was me too. ;)

No, Indiana, I agree with you. Major Griff should make a return. Ever since they got rid of Makepeace, the show has lacked a face whenever other SG-teams are involved. Griff seems to fill that void quite well.
You like Water Rats, eh? Are you Australian or not? If you're not, then I've probably got some news for you...
Raptor

I am not Australian. I have only seen two seasons of water Rats and it has now finished up in Australia :( But I still have about another 4 seasons to see. All I need now is to somehow get the episodes I have missed. Come on C5. Show more water Rats.

Have you seen my other post called Stargate: OWC? it has a list of Characters I think should be in a Spin off. It's in the General Forum.

Yeah, that was my news: Water Rats has finished. It was a bit strange because it was fairly popular, and the fact that they were canning it was only revealed about a week before it went off the air. Strange...
And no, I haven't read your post yet, but I will. You seem to be the type who actually THINKS before posting, unlike, well... me. I hope to talk again soon!

Indy certainly does think before he posts....... And his ideas are sound. He like me, agrees that the series actually lost something....the menace, the spine tingling sensation in the movie when these aliens stalked Jack and his team, who didn't stand a cat in hell's chance against them. The idea of exploration has also been lost.... and this is something both Indy and I would like to see returned, in season six and in any kind of spin off.

I know what everyone feels about the character development, and there has to be a certain amount of that, but to my mind this series has turned from a promising cool scary, thought provoking mystery about exploration of who we are, with the addition of a cool strong enemy.... to a space soap opera where the chief baddies are apparently a pantomime act and get killed when a member of SG1 blows on them.

They have killed off so many of the Goa'uld that they are now a joke, and even the introduction of this new baddie has aroused a certain amount of hilarity. I have a horrible feeling that Brad Wright and Co have shot themselves in the foot with regard to bringing back the original concept..... although they should care.... they got six seasons and a lot of money out of it!

You could argue that now is the best time for them to return to the roots of the show. A sort of back to basics, with the start of the new series. There is still probably time to arrange something at the end of S5, to propagate this. (c.f. the loss of most of SG-1 off-world for several days between S3 and S4, allowing various hairstyle changes - ahem!)

One problem with the continuance of the show is the constant exploration and explanation which means by five series there is little left to explore or explain. How many other similar series go on this long?

Perhaps if they can concentrate on what Stargate really means, if they actually know. Exploring the humanity of being exposed to the best and worst of the universe. Given how many gate combinations there are, theoretically. there is still plenty of scope for future missions, if they can create sufficient content.

They need to focus on what they are after from:

meeting new cultures, finding earth-parallel cultures, fighting super-villains, moral issues for the team/earth, developing characters form earth and other races, overcoming technical challenges, defending earth (again), etc.

Some ideas for plots

[The following are hereby granted free for the use by the producers of Stargate SG-1]

a) Theft of the stargate from the SGC by some renegade alien - perhaps a "bad" Asgard ; plot would require SG-1 to be off-world to allow them to overcome the problem - simply phoning the Tok'ra etc. for help would just be a cop-out

b) A universal scale plantery/galaxial shift, of a scale such that all the gate addresses become invalid , or much worse, end up at a different destination :errrr:

c) Some sort of "millenium bug" style universal glitch in the gate network

d) there is still plenty of scope for many of the ancient gods and goddesses / mythology

e) more depth into some of the Egyptian myths, or current belief about them - e.g. powers of the pyramids

f) something about Atlantis, and who they were - the ancients? :eek7:

g) some airborne virus that gets into SGC and escapes onto earth, which has a long incubation period. Would need identifying and then curing, without alerting the population

h) something with the parallel universe mirrors - an alternative "bad alien" (or human) is jumping into and out of ours, perhaps on earth, or elsewhere, and doing damage, stealing stuff or whatever, and does some serious damage before SG-1 can stop them :dead:

i) find some invention, perhaps Machellos, and fiddle with it to try time-travel... but it goes wrong, leading to universal time dislocations, pockets of differently speeded and other anomalous time, which of course the other races will be tee'd off about :alienooh:

j) some discovery that shows that despite the goa'uld using the Tauri to populate the galaxy, humans were actually brought TO earth prior to that

k) some technology that allows short-term viewing of the future, but presumably will have bad side-effects so that they have to stop using it, destroy it or give it back :iiworry:

l) anything with the Reetou in

m) bring back any of the bit parts whom we have not followed up but must still be alive and useful :p

n) some bizarre property of the stargate:
i) crossing of two wormholes at the same time, means ending up in an unkown destination [actually, not much scope for plot :(]
ii) something newly discovered about going into the destination end of the wormhole, which turns out to be non-fatal (which is presumably the assumption, with previously no way to prove or disprove it) :upto:

o) I could go on... :naughty:

If this is (as reported) the final series, they'll probably wrap everything up nice and tidy.
Maybe they will tell the public about the Stargate, if there was no more hostile threat? - or maybe that's for the movie.

I want to see a system lord who can totally kick SG1's @$$
and maybe somemore stuff for Janet and Hammond.
Hey, it's the last series, let the actors out of the SGC set!:D

By the way I have heard it Brad Wright wants to not wrap up the series but set it up for a feature film. If you think about it. the end of SG-1 can be finished off with a great victory, but at the end there could still be something, a problem that they never thought would come back to bite them. look at the end of Star Wars...Luke Skywalker blew up the Death Star, but Darth Vader still survived. Thats it! Thats what we need! We need an Unas controlled by a Goa'uld Symbiote to return! And we need the man with that most excellent voice to return, no not Chris Judge, James Earl Jones. I don't know about Y'all, but james Earl Jones had a wonderful voice for the Unas in Thors Hammer.

Definitely - taking another example, Scream 3 - which pretty much explains, in its own post-modernistic way: something has to come from the past, the deep past, that upsets almost everything that we thought we knew.

A brilliant one would be the escape of Ra from the Ha'tak above Abydos, but he has been in deep sarcophagus mode, with severe burns that he almost coudn't heal... Some deathglider escape or similar. They could also explain away the apparent non-current appearance of the symbiote too.
