1.8 : Breaking The Ice.

they just aired this one again last week --

it was pretty good --

(and i just reread my posts from back in November - i know who more of the crew are now! hehe)

i still don't really like T'Pol much - tho i do like her better than i did when i saw the pilot episode --

and the episodes make sense when you get to see them all the way through --- (fell asleep last time) -

are we going to start a collection of Enterprise cliches? Dave mentioned something about a shuttle falling in a hole in a previous episode --

i think there are going to be a lot of 'shuttle accidents' - as opposed to the transporter accidents we saw in TOS and TNG - b/c they're still afraid to use the transporter for humans ---

Or count how many times the Dog appears... or on how many away missions it gets to go on...

Breaking the Ice - Nitpickers Guide (SPOILERS)

I couldn't help but notice that it could only be left for a few episodes before the shuttle falls through the ground again. How about next time we scan the landing site before we set down!

1. Something about the pictures the children drew for the Enterprise crew really puzzled me. Then it hit me: they're pictures that children drew. Not printouts either, these actually look like the whole nine yards of it. Complete with crayon textures. Now it really does lead me thinking how exactly they managed to get these considering they haven't been back to Earth since they left. Did one of the many Vulcan ships that have been following them come baring gifts of children's drawings?
2. The captain sent a message over the comm system that, from memory, went a little like this: 'Everyone look out the window.' Here there was a significant pause, allowing everyone who wasn't on the starboard side ample time to stare out the window blankly and wonder what they were looking for. 'There's something off the starboard bow that you might want to see.' He rather dramatically leaves it at that, but for a moment, predict what normal human curiosity is going to do. I get the feeling that there'll be a sudden weight axis shift on the Enterprise!

I decided that given the rapid advances in photocopying technology it would be possible by 2150 to duplicate real crayon drawings complete with the texture.

Why anyone should want to do that is another question entirely!

LOL.... in Trek no one knows why ?? they just do it..

Think I will have to disagree with HII

It is the asides, even the 'shipping' that is making Enterpise a pleasure to watch and follow, it makes the whole thing balance properly. On a small ship like Enterprise, there must be interactions between the crew, they are human, or almost so, not the androids of TNG.

As long as it does not take over from the SciFi exploration theme, or they spring something out of no where a'la Voyager.

For me, it made this one of the best episodes yet. With Reed and whats his face trying to do the serious stuff, while the crew continue with what life they have.

I'm beggining to sympathise with T'Pot. Since the series began, she has found that Vulcans are not as squeaky clean, logical, or as clever as she had hitherto believed.

Perhaps that is the real underlying sideline behind Enterprise? Like teaching Data to be human in TNG, or Seven of Nine teaching the Voyager crew the same trait?

Without spoiling, Brannon Braga has let slip some big developments for season two --
the Vulcans have some huge secrets about their interference in human affairs before 'First Contact'.
I think that T'Pol will also see her race in a different light after the truth is exposed

hmmm, perhaps I'll look forward to season 2... will our little beagle be grown up?
