Tips and Traps for Writing Fiction

something i have discovered, if you are writing about a place and want info, write to thier chamber of commerce, tourism board or embassy. these people will bend over typically backwards for you.

The amazing thing I've found regarding locations is that the internet can deliver almost everything you need. It will never take the place of actually going there, but you can find maps, photos, floorplans, weather reports, etc. that will allow you to experience a place vicariously.

It is especially useful if the locale is not a main one, but a stop off. Saves on travel expenses. I even use this for the locations I have visited, for street names and distances (timing), and small details. And now there's even Google Earth.
