Bless him I think he looks great whatever he does! :D

Is it my imagination or did Daniel have two pair of glasses in 2010? The ones with a black frame and the ones he wore when he met Jack and Janet in the restaurant which only were partly framed? Have to watch it again and have a closer look... :D

Yeah as foar as I can remember he did have two different pairs that day!! :D

Esp. in the scene in 2001 when Joe joins SG-1 in the gateroom and Daniel gives him thumps up...with the sunglasses on...yummy ;)

Yeah I was watching this one again on Sunday...I do like that bit where Jack is going on about the shoes and Danny and Teal'c sort of lean over and Danny gives the thumbs up..makes me laugh everytime! ;)

It's one of my fave moments of season five.
I love Teal'c's 'Nothing' too. A great and very funny scene.

But nothing can top the combination of the bandana with the sun-glasses. Major drool factor... :D :D :D

Oh yeah now thats yummy! ;)

In the film Dr. Jackson really needed the glasses -- part of his near-sighted geekiness. In SG1 the glasses come and go without much explanation.

My mate and siblings are of the sort that can't function without lenses -- they bump into things. Me -- I wear glasses because the State of Maryland says I'm not supposed to operate a motor vehicle without them, but other than that I often go without them and just accept that not everything is clear. My eyesight just isn't that bad (or else I'm in serious denial :) )

Since there's been no real focus (ooh, bad pun, I know :D ) on Daniel's visual acuity the writers have been left free to let him get knocked about, the glasses lost, and he can still find that gate and dial home. So I love him with or without the lenses, and just ignor the consistency issue as much as possible.

Good point, Webmouse.
I don't know if I already mentioned it earlier, but the reason Daniel's glasses come and go is Michael Shanks. In an interview he said that he liked to experiment with the glasses, wear 'em in one scene and put them away in another. The writers and producers let him and so he kinda looked where Daniel needed his glasses and wore them and put them away when he thought it to be okay...:D

The glasses, then, are a kind of "stage business" -- the sort of prop that adds to the character or gives the actor something to do with his hands, but the writers and MS do not want the glasses to become a distraction or detraction. If the glasses are going to be in the way during a fight or flight sequence, then no glasses need appear. If MS doesn't want them on, they're gone.

Although now that I've realized that the glasses come and go without explanation I've become terribly conscious of when they appear and why they disappear -- which is precisely the sort of distraction/detraction that I'm sure the producers want to avoid. One of those little nagging things -- like in Star Trek Voyager they kept blowing up shuttle craft, yet never seemed to run out of them nor even comment on the lost equipment. :(

I know what you mean, but unlike you I usually don't even notice if Daniel wears his glasses or not. Just when I watch the episode a second or sometimes even third time I notice that. That's really kinda funny.
But on the other hand I noticed that the Voyager never seems to run out of shuttles or ammunition. :D

Well, first time through I didn't really notice the glasses either and I didn't start taping until late in S3, so my re-watching abilities have been limited.

In "Legacy" Daniel expressed concern that his glasses had been taken from him in the mental hospital. Then in some later ep -- can't remember if it was "The Devil You Know" or "New Ground" -- I became aware that Daniel was getting really roughed up, the glasses were gone and he wasn't acting like someone who suddenly couldn't see as well. So, my normal oblivious-self becomes glasses-conscious.

And, apropo of nothing, being the only right-handed child of three, I tend to notice when anyone is left-handed.
