Sam has turned into Mary Sue

i agree with what you say about the differences between the first season and the latter seasons. i read somewhere that they did make an effort to make sams character more real and less iguess you call it mary sueish. i think that with the passage of time they have been able to explore all the characters and broaden and deepen their relationships. (although if you read any fanfic--sometimes those writers give reasons for different characters actions and angst better than the shows writers do.):D
 
Truth be told, If "Mary Sue" means the woman gets to be the intelligent, save their as**s, good "guy," that's ok with me. :cool:

I agree with the summary - Sam's character has been allowed to grow over the five seasons into a much deeper character . . . as it should be.

yeah me too. its all part of the fun!
 
But the thing is, after a while, it gets a bit ... unreal, and annoying. Just ask Anni! :D :p
 
As I keep telling y'all: lighten up! You've managed to get past the use of a Stargate ( or 2 or 3), little gray men :alienooh: , and area 51. A smart woman with all the answers (and who kills off almost every potential significant other) shouldn't be such a big deal. :cool:
 
lol, it doesn't affect my watching of the show, but it's fun to dabate on the web!
 
I wonder if those casting the new character/writers/whomever, ever really considered allowing the new member to be a female . . . ?

Just a thought. :cool:
 
Interesting idea Texane - I really doubt they considered it...

COuld the Jonas character have been female? Would the PTB happy initiate a new female (and alien) character onto a military team - I would bet not.
 
Interesting enough though,
the training sg teams seen in season five had equal, 2 girls 2 guys.
 
Interesting indeed. ;) and plus the dark haired one seemed as fallible as the others...

I noticed. And they managed to kill off the cute guy instead of the obnoxious girl . . . I'm not sure that was their best option. :erm:
